Model A spoke replacement
I bought a model A recently that has a broken spoke. I would like to fix it. There is a metal ring outside the wheel that is secured by an allen bolt. Can the metal ring be removed easily? I like to get some information before I take it apart.

Bad technique?
I have developed a habit that my head looks up instead of looks horizontally at the end of the pull. So my head and my spine are still in one line when my body bending backward. Is this bad? Does it matter?

Re: Still confused on damping factor
I bought a PM2 few days ago for my model B and I bought a brand new D which arrived today. I put the D together and rowed for 30 minutes at DF 120. I rowed with longer stroke like someone suggested. At rate 20, my HR was high and I was exhausted after 30 minutes. :D Since I have a PM for the B now, ...

Re: Still confused on damping factor
First of all, I am not trying to saying high DF or low DF is better. In fact, I am trying find a way to explain this scientifically that DF is irreverent how PM calculates the performance. Different rowers need to find different DF so they can produce the most power in a certain time period.

Re: Still confused on damping factor
Say I row one minute at the rate of 20 SPM in DF 100 and DF 200. Which one results in more distance? I assume DF 200. Correct? Maybe I should be more clear. I was trying to make SPM constant so it is easier to compare. I understand there are more things to consider. Say the rower uses the same rate...

Re: Still confused on damping factor
I want to added that since the performance is calculated based on the energy, that is why setting DF is irrelevant. No matter what DF you are using it is the energy you put in matters.

Re: Still confused on damping factor
I thought I can get a clear yes/no answer. :D Is this a correct: The performance calculation is solely based on the energy(watts) the rower puts in. Energy is determined by the rpm of the flywheel(when pull)and the weight of the flywheel(changed by the DF). PM maps the energy input to the speed of ...

Re: Still confused on damping factor
I am trying to understand the DF concept first. If the only difference is the DF, will higher DF produces longer distance (in the PM) when rowing the same amount of time?

I bought the Model B for $130. I am hesitate to pay another $180 for a PM. Should I just go buy a new model D?

Re: PM2 > $150
A new PM5 retrofit for model B is $180. That is why I don't understand why people pay that much $ for a used PM2.

PM2 > $150
I am looking to buy an old PM for my model B. I see couple of PM2 sold for > $150 on ebay. Is there a reason why they cost more than a new PM5?

cardio exercise with model B
I am 56, 165 lb, 5'11''. My normal HR is 64. I bought a model B with no PM lately, trying to use that to do my cardio exercise instead of running treadmill. My HR reaches 150 running on TM in about 10 minutes but I can't reach that in 20 minutes of rowing. I am doing about 32 SPM. I have watched a f...
