High drag factor
I have experimented with different drag settings and it appears that I am most efficient (can achieve my best times) with the highest drag factor (200+). I know from several discussions on this board that a drag factor between 100 and 150 is recommended, even for big, powerful rowers. What might it ...

All great stuff folks. I think I'll find the .pdf file posted by Rich (RowtheRockies) particularly helpful. I'm on a quest to do a 7 minute 2k and wanted to know how much of a stretch this will be. This helps a lot. And, by the way Byron, if you are an "aging lightweight" and can row a 6:28, I'm imp...

Watts vs. Pace chart
Does anyone know where I can find a chart which converts "watts" to "time per 500m pace"? This would be helpful in knowing how much additional power is needed to advance from one level of performance to another.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Newfit, I've had some success adding rowing on the C2 to my strength training focus. Like others have said, the key is to keep the intensity moderate to high and avoid lots of long, slow distance. In your 40's, you are likely to take a little longer than you might have in your 20's to recover from y...

Thanks folks. I appreciate all of the replies. I'm convinced I need to lower the drag factor at least down to about 140-150 or maybe even lower and work on refining my technique. I'm very competitive, even when it's only me who knows my results, so it will take a little swallowing of the ego at firs...

Here's a little more information. I just checked the drag factor on my Model D and got the following results. Setting = 10, drag = 202 - This is where I get the best results, but seem to be tweaking my lower back a little. Setting = 5, drag = 132 Setting = 4, drag = 118 Setting = 3, drag = 104 I nev...

Drag setting vs. performance and pain
I’ve been using the Concept II for a little over a year. For the first 9 months, I was using the highest damper setting (most resistance). However, I recently read on the Concept II site that most elite rowers use a setting of 3 to 5 for competitions. In addition to my strength training goals, I hav...
