2 very, very simple things you need to do to make losing weight an absolute piece of pi55. screw the bagel for breakfast and all these 'you have to eat 6 times a day' things. most people doing this start by eating way too much. for breakfast, you need something thats gonna fill you up, and keep you ...

using a PM3 on a model B - "RETROFIT"?!
Hi, I recently bought a model B erg for home. I'm used to using a model d with PM3 monitor and find the lack of features on the PM1 monitor (i think standard with model b) frustrating. If I wanted to upgrade to a PM3, could I just buy any old PM3 monitor, attatch it, plug it in and have it working? ...

what 5K to be able to have a shot at a 7min 2K?
as above. Was wondering what sort of 5k time you need to be pulling to have a realistic shot at a sub7min 2k.
Current 5k best (not really an all-out effort) is 18:50. The last 2k i did was about 1 month ago 7:13 when my 5k was 19:20ish
I'm 21 and weigh 72kg (if this is relevant)
thanks,
thejoker

cooldudecrew, how is your 2k 7.11 and 5k 20.28?? i'm new to rowing and before i got ill a few weeks back my 2k was 7.13 amd 5k 19.28 my tip is to pace yourself at 2k pace for the first 1k, then jack it up to 2:00, then give it an all-out effort last 600-700m or so. its probably not the most efficien...

Hamstring strain
Hi, I managed to strain my right hamstring ligaments playing football the Sunday before last. I didn't realise this at first, thinking I was just stiff after playing 90mins without having played contact sport for a few weeks (foolish I know!). Anyway, I had a 2hr outing straight after the match and ...

Interval Training
I want to try out some interval training. I've heard that 8x500m is a popular and effective workout. I can pull 2k in 7.23 (1.50.9) and based on this, what pace should I be willing to go for in 500m sprints to get an effective anaerobic workout and how much rest should I take between pieces. Thanks ...

mixing up training?
I'm new to rowing this term at college and in about 2 weeks of 2x2hr OTW outings (no ergs), have managed to bring my 2k from 7.32 to 7.28. We have 2 weeks until our qualification race for lent 'bumps' (a cambridge race). The guy who normally coaches us suggests we do regular 5ks but i've heard from ...
Alcohol
In your experiences, how detrimental is alcohol to training regimes? There are folk in the 1st boat at college who can drink 2 bottles of wine at dinner and still make outings at 6.30 the next morning and pull well under 7mins for a 2k. This is my 1st term rowing and have seen decent results without...

newbie Q from wannabe rower
Hi, I'm very new to rowing so go easy. I'm a reasonable fit individual and thought I might aswell take up college rowing next term. I hear people talking about '2K times' so when I was down the gym I decided to give it a go on the concept 2 ergs. I did it in 7:30 with a 1:52:5 500m split time on set...
