Re: Handle Down or ...

Have handled down twice ever --in the same day while 2K testing. (I PB'd in the third because I knew I'd hate myself)

Re: Rowing SPM - Cardio Vs. Power

compared to my training, which I think of as nearly pure aerobic work: 100k+/week of which 80-90% is rate 18, pace 2:05-2:08, HeartRate sub 130. Is that really what your week consists of, Dean? On that basis my aerobic work is way too fast in winter, erging is my main activity, but even in summer w...

Re: Rowing SPM - Cardio Vs. Power

Boredom is my issue too. The thought of sitting there for an hour plus, doesn't appeal.

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Mark clarified in another place that this was for 250's. I jumped all over it when I saw it too! Its still good for 250's anyway. Yeah, but 500m's are an entirely different animal than 250m's. Most cannot survive on anaerobic system alone for 500m. At 300m it all starts caving in at 250m pace. it's...

Re: Can an overly long stroke be more efficient?

I'm not sure it's a simple as more recovery time. After all, the extra force required to stay at the same pace with less strokes will surely negate that?

Re: Just 30 mins a day?

Dang Mark - 8 x 500's at 1:37 on 1' rest is lots faster than when you did 1:43's or 4s before your 2K test a few months ago. What an improvement in such a short time! It is, but I've had another 2K in between which should have been quite a bit better than it was if I'd paced it correctly. Feel like...

Re: Just 30 mins a day?

My current work out is right around 30 minutes. I change things up every several months. I tried the high mileage approach back in the spring (ten 100k weeks at 2:08 to 2:10 pace with no speed work). Rowed OTW all summer at mostly easy pace with a bump up at the end training for and completing a he...

Music for the erg

Anyone got preferred music for erg accompaniment? Personally it always has to be very extreme metal: Cannibal Corpse, Obituary etc -- neither of which will probably appear on anyone else's list!

Ha -- yes, you're right!
