207 -0.7*age is from a study by Gellish et al [Gellish, 2007]. They quote a standard deviation of 6 beats, slightly better than 220-age. Where does the ^.67 come from? Bicyclists use watts/(Kg of body weight) which is the same as your formula without the ^.67

Try Higher intensity
This reminded me to check again. .... I've testing about 30 times now. im on average 70 beats per minute. This makes no sense. I've been rowing for 2 year,which is about 1000 hours with 1.4 million m since november. Why am I so high? ...And this isn't just a fluke, i've always had high heart rates....

have you tried gloves or relax hands on recovery?
Sorry for the late reply, I just joined the forum. I have arthritis in my hands. Wearing biking gloves helps for me(weight-lifting gloves would be equivalent). Also, on recovery I make sure I relax my grip. rich

Hi Josh, sorry for the late reply. I just joined the forum. My only concern is your program possibly leading to muscle imbalance. You're already supplementing the rowing with ab exercises, which is good, I'd also recommend adding at least bench press or pushups as an opposite exercise to rowing. rich
