I'm not quite the newbie that you are, but pretty darn close. Here's my advice: * The posters on these forums are awesome. They know of what they speak. * Don't compare yourself to their times -- it's just depressing. * Watch the technique videos. * Use your legs and keep your back straight. The goa...

Maybe what you need is some good old perspective. I am older, shorter, and heavier. I'd never rowed anything but a canoe in my life until February. Now I erg six days a week. I've lost a whopping two pounds and I am thrilled. My blood pressure is 96/58. My clothes fit better (not great, but better)....

Just wanted to throw in two cents here as I recently lamented on this very subject. I didn't gain weight but I didn't lose either and my clothes were not fitting any better. One poster suggested varying my workouts. After slogging through the March Madness challenge and feeling like (as one descript...

A little discouraged

47 yo female, been rowing seven weeks. Fairly religiously, 5-6 days/week. Generally about 30K - 40K meters/week. Never rowed anything in my life before except for paddling a canoe but have always been athletic. Basketball, tennis, softball... Finished a marathon 10 years ago with plantar fasciitis i...

Dumb question about challenges

Sorry for this -- I'm new...

I want to do the March Madness. I'm slow but I"m a stayer! I'm curious though -- do I do my 5000m as a program workout or can I just get on and row and those meters will count?

Thanks!
