ranger wrote: How about this?

I can pull 500m, 1:30 @ 30 spm (16 SPI).

I think that might be a challenge for Stephansen.

ranger
I dont think that would be a challenge. He has the world record.
I can pull a 1:28 at 29spm.

Pulling at max drag back in 2003, This year, again pulling at max drag, I think I'll pull a lwt 6:16. For WIRC, I will be 59 years old. What is your age, height, and weight? And what you _you_ pull for 2K? ranger You are going to pull 6:16 at max drag, for a 59 year old light weight. That i can not ...

Talking Shit with ranger

ranger wrote: I suspect that I am quite a bit stronger than Stephansen, so I am rowing with a higher drag (max, actually), which lets me cheat the catch even more.

ranger
 You are stronger than Stephansen.(Prove it) :!:

If you are rowing at Max Drag you are a muppet.

I dont think it should be a problem,it is like anything else, the more you put in the more you get out.I have gone from 7:10 down to 6:30 within the first year.I also came from a different sporting background. The first thing you need to do is look at a few technique videos,i found them very helpfull ...

I tried hard, but that was my worst 2k in a very long time. I pulled a 1:54.5 for the whole thing - a 7:38. Which is almost 40 seconds slower than my PR last fall, and ten seconds slower than two weeks ago. I couldn't hold a 1:50 for more than the first minute or so. I'm angry. What you could try i...

i personally think that the bursts of speed are not a good idea.Find the steady pace needed for the time and stick to it.Then the extra energy you have saved from not doing the bursts you can try a sprint finish for the last 1 or 2k.(The predictor always gives me a good idea of how the row is going)...

I was just as scared as you in my first race.Try and do the first 1k at 1:41-1:42 pace, your body will tell you what you have left in the tank.If it is going well then speed up abit, but dont let it all go until the last 300m.Then you can really let rip.You dont wont to set off to fast and die,and you...

You should not have a problem gaining muscle by continuing your long rows.If you do the long rows at a low spm you will get stronger without the weight.Just remember to have enougth rest inbetween the weight sessions.you dont want to get injured. :)

i could agree with it being 80% legs. After being at a competition last year i changed my technique after watching some of the really fast guys.My legs seem to have grown quiet a lot since then, and i have got faster on all my personal bests. :)

That is a good plan of pulling 500 calories a session, just try and mix it up a bit,you dont wont to get bored. The thought of going to the gym to sit on the erg for an hour 3 times a week will get boring.See how far you can go in an hour, and then try to beat it from week to week. Then do 2x30 min rows...

I have just started to up the meters in a serious asault on the weight loss front.Doing about 60000+ meters a week.Managed 6:31 for the 2k recently and believe that the only way to get faster is through weight loss. (the less weight you push up and down the slide the faster you will go)

Hi.I seem to have the same problem, and when i have finished a 10k or longer row i have a tiny rash on the inside of my elbow area.I dont think that it is that unusual. :)
