My experience as a noob
I am new to rowing as well (in my 4th week). Thus far I have found it helpful to do timed variable intervals instead of distance (e.g. 10K). I have found that focusing on the time has been very helpful in keeping a good pace. Sure my ego might feel better if I rowed a faster split (I am really reall...

Thanks for all the help! Last night it seemed to all come together. I finished up the "Getting Started" program and rowed for a full 30 minutes straight (with 5 min warm up and 5 min cool down) and was able to get my SPM's down to 20 (Sometimes 28) and my split time down to the low 2:20's. Also, I w...

Thanks for all the input but I still have some questions. However, I did make some changes based on the info here and the free technique DVD from C2 I got on Sunday. During my last rowing session I realized that yes indeed my strokes were too short and I realized that I was bending my knees on recov...

Thanks for the info. That helps, but I am still having trouble controlling my SPM rates. Is this something that is important to be able to control? For instance, I see that some worksouts say do a certain SPM number then increase or decrease from that point (e.g. start at 22 and go 23, 24, etc). Is ...

Congratulations Tom! So when you say everything was "normal" does that mean the diabetes went away? I dont know much about these things but with that type of diabetes is it possible for it to go away? That would be such great news and an inspiration to those of us they may be at risk (e.g. belly fat...

Just Started - Some quick questions RE SPM and sessions
I have been searching the forums but couldnt find what I was looking for. I just started rowing at the gym on a C2D with a PM3 (log card and reader arrived today - cool). Anyway, I have rowed twice thus far and have been following the "getting started" program located on the C2 website. However I ha...

Card Reader - Which to buy? Omnikey or Athena
I started using the C2D at my gym and wanted to buy a card and reader to track my progress and keep my workouts but I didnt know which reader to buy? They are both the same price and have the same description so I am a bit confused. I am a PC user and I thought I read somewhere that the Athena is fo...

Thanks for the input! Very helpful; especially the online teams. Thats sounds interesting, but do newbies join? Maybe after I get used it I might join one. Is there a list somewhere? Also, you mention "lofty" goals? Are my asperations too high? I do want to have reasonable expectations so that I sti...

Thinking of getting a C2DPM4 - My goals realistic?
I have been reading the forums and online documentation (both have been really great by the way) on the C2 rowers and I am seriously thinking about getting a D with a PM4 so I have a heart rate monitor. However, before I do that I wanted to get a sense for if my fitness goals are reasonable. I am 36...

PM3 vs PM4 - How important is heart rate in work out?
I am thinking of getting a C2 D and wondering about the different PM's. I plan to use the C2 for weight loss and toning, so not for racing etc. I think the PM3 should meet my needs, however I am new to working out and wondering how important a hear rate monitor is? For an extra $150 is it worth it t...

Store in a closet?
I am thinking about buying a concept 2 but wonder about the storage. I live in an apartment and have the space to run the machine in the bedroom (9 feet plus, etc.) but wonder about how reasonable it is to store after every use. Basically, after each I would need to fold it and store it in a closet ...
