Hamstrings. Stretch them properly.

More so on your "inside" leg. Coz when you row sweep, that's the one that doesn't get to unfurl as freely as it should do during the drive.

Untightened hamstrings then stop pulling your glutes/lower back muscles which is causing the spasm.

Said it once (elsewhere on this form), I'll say it again.

There's nothing on an erg handle that can cause blisters, and there's no rotation of the handle inside the hand like there is in a boat.

So if you're getting blisters on a rowing machine, then get help with your technique.

Gloves aren't necessary on an erg. Unlike in a boat there's no twisting motion in the handle! So if you "need" gloves, then you're obviously doing something wrong technique-wise. Get help, not gloves.
