Re: What's a 2k erg test comparable to?
The thing with cycling, like other people have mentioned, is that when you get to a certain point of horrible horrible pain, you pretty much stop and can't give anything (you bonk). Up until then you feel progressively worse, but it doesn't feel to be that same all-encompassing body fatigue you get ...

What's a 2k erg test comparable to?
Most of my friends are not rowers, so when I talk about the dread you can sometimes get as you approach a test, the act of practically falling off the erg after, the incredible lung burn you get, the way it feels to just sit on your AT, or the complete non-surprise when someone's running to get outs...

Re: Rowing strapless
It is possible to row strapless but it is dogmatic to believe that it is some magic cure for bad technique. Like I said, no one's putting that forward. The gist of it is that it raises awareness of where it's possible to improve efficiency, but you have to have a brain to apply it. The effect of ro...

Re: Rowing strapless
If rowing strapless would be the fastest way to row than people would also row strapless during contests. I don't think anyone's saying you can go faster rowing strapless. The whole point of doing it, at least from everything I've come across, is that it makes you improve your technique so that whe...

Re: Rowing strapless
Anyway, the reason erging strapless is good for rowers is because it forces you to maintain contact with the foot stretcher, thus making it easier to keep the boat set at the finish as well as during the recovery. If you don't maintain contact, your body weight is being thrown around and makes it m...

Rowing strapless
So I get the point of rowing strapless with regards to the recovery, but I'm less clear on what you're supposed to concentrate on when doing the drive strapless; I keep forgetting to ask my coach about it, and I searched some threads on here, but they mostly dealt with the recovery. So I did a 10k y...

Sweat in your eyes
Ok this seems like a dumb question, but I'm asking in case anyone has some creative solutions. What do you guys use to keep the sweat from running all over year head? For some reason this year I've started sweating more from the top of my head and it gets really annoying during a test piece when it ...

What's the sleeve thing you put on the flywheel?
I remember seeing a photo online of one of those sleeves that directs air back at the person erging... anyone know what I'm talking about? Anyone have any opinions on it?
