Re: Torn Meniscus

I tore my ACL in the late '70's and never had it fixed (it was pre arthroscopic surgery days). I ran many marathons and did a lot of biking. Eventually I tore my meniscus slightly and needed surgery to trim it up. Ran a marathon on my repaired knee pain free but took up erging. No problems whatsoeve...

13:20 5k??????

So I'm looking at the Concept2 rankings of times posted in my age bracket for 2011, and I see a 5k pulled by a Pennsylvanian named Ray Davis, age 59, as 13:20. #2 fastest time is 16:56. Hmmmmmmm, I say to myself.

Monitor has crashed; got an error message when I tried to view memory. I went 15k today in 1:03:20 but looks like new batteries and an update are in order.

Spent a few bucks and downloaded a Xeno workout from his site. Two pyramids going 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 and back down. Wasn't exactly like erging next to someone at the gym, but his reminders to keep checking my form were helpful.

7107 in 30 minutes; not really pushing as I've shoveled an extraordinary amount of snow and my back is scrunchy.

1kwarmup, then 250, 500. 750, 1k, 750, 500, 250 avg 1:52, last 250 avg was 1:47. So I'm still slow, but getting to be a faster slow. School will likely be closed for snow tomorrow, so 15k planned.

At the risk of posting rather pedestrian rates as compared to you speedsters here, today was a positively magical day on the erg for me. After a warmup, I did a 5x1500 and for whatever reason my form finally felt like it did a couple years ago and each rep was a tad faster and the last was in 5:48 (...

Yesterday- 80' row covering 16,340
Today- 1kwarmup, then 8x500 avg 1:52, 1k cooldown
To use an old running term I bonked badly on the last interval. I was quite pleased pulling 1:48/1:47 but suddenly lost any pretext of mental toughness...
