Re: Rotator cuff impingement syndrome

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll incorporate your ideas and perhaps do a light bit of rowing as well. As always, 'listen to your body', which is what I should have done months ago.

Rotator cuff impingement syndrome

I've been very active but not rowing all year (the erg is sitting there sunning itself in my bedroom day in and day out.) spending time being a runner and up until about 1 month ago a minor weight lifter (p90x). I've managed to mess up my shoulder with what is diagnosed at Rotator cuff impingement s...

Yes, I saw that! Very cool way to get that ole catapult tensioned up.

Model E-Rattle in chain

My model E is about 3 years old and about 1.5 million meters on it. As far as maintenance goes, I've kept the chain oiled according to directions and there isn't any dust in the flywheel area. That's it. I'm just now starting to hear what I'll call a rattle in the chain area when I go from Drive to ...

Thanks for your input

This has all been helpful. I will probably work up some sort of hybrid schedule to follow and make changes as I go. Right now, I run more than I row (half marathon distances so I'm not super fast), but hope to equal it out some. Can you see me? How did you know that I needed to lose weight? Ha! :D A...

Row-athlon Training schedule

I posted this a few months back without a response....maybe now there are some folks out there that use one or know where I can find one on a website. I've searched to no avail. I'm interested in a specific training schedule that will incorporate both the training schedule for the rowing AND the run...

Rowathlon training schedules

I realize that most of the Row/cycle/run races are held over in Britain, but does anyone have a link for a training plan? Something along the lines of brick training for triathlons?

I'm a newbie and use rowing as crosstraining for my love of running. I'm probably the other sector that visits this board. I have found that rowing along with a dvd (I have one of Xeno's) is an enjoyable way to get a good workout. Checked out the website. I like the idea in general. I suppose you wo...

Congrats are definitely in order. I've always wondered if a person with a higher Max HR (mine has been tested 3 times and is around 205) would have a naturally higher resting heart rate (mine is around 62 bpm). Seems logical to me. At the same time, I have low blood pressure (avg 90/60's with restin...

Ankles cracking

I have popping sounds a lot when I walk (not all the time) and definitely have popping ankle sounds but not on the erg. My mother also used to have loud joints. I could hear her walking through the house early in the morning. I've never addressed it with a physio, I just figured it was the way I was...

sitting bones

I did order a Xeno DVD, #1 and watched his technique as well as the Four Oarsman. I have mirrors set up and I'm making a conscious effort to sit tall. I can actually feel the bones wedged into the little holes of the seat pad but I'm trying to keep good posture. I was really hoping someone would say...

A royal pain

My sitting bones (muscles?) start to scream around 13 minutes on the rower. Here is my background: I'm a runner. My leg muscles are in good shape. I'm 5'6, about 136 pounds (sturdy but not fat). I don't have a lot of extra natural cushion to be sitting on. I've only been rowing for about 1 month on ...

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not sure if I was clear in my original post. It's coming from the monitor screen, not from the room itself as in flickering flourescent lights. Would this give me the same reply because it's sunlit, with windows at 270 degrees 12' high....no artificial lighting during t...

PM4 - Flickering screen

I'm getting vertical line flickering that is very noticeable when the Lifetime meters block is shown. It's mainly a thin single line about 1" from the right side. When I'm on the rowing screens, I can see a faint flickering of lines throughout. This does not impede my viewing of any data, just wonde...

Holiday Challenge

Being a brand spankin' newbie, I'm up to 31,796 with 23 days to go. I feel pretty confident that I'll meet the 100k challenge!

My model E arrived on Nov 16th and I have almost 50,000 meters rowed.
