2K prediction
Looking for suggestions/advice on what my daughter's 2K time should be. She's 20, HW, about 5'9". 5K time is 19:49. Based on that, and my own relative performance of 5K:2K, I guess that her potential at the moment is about 7:20. Her current best is 7:35. Any comments from those experienced in this s...

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th
Well I managed 6:46.4, a shade inside my previous PB, but not as fast as I'd hoped. Still a creditable 22nd in the 40-49 category. Over on Facebook, there seems to be many people who didn't achieve what they could in practice - I'm going to have another go next weekend - thought I'd be closer to 6:4...
Re: PM pace
Quick question re pacing: when the PM states current pace it only does so to the second with no decimal poonts. I.e. it says 1.49, 1.50 etc. The split and final times, however are all to the nearest tenth. Does anyone know at what point 1.49 becomes 1.50 on the current pace display? I have always a...

Re: 6.56.3 to 6.45.0
I'm pretty much at your targets - took me 15 years to get from where you are to where I am! I'm sure you'll do it much quicker than that. Like others have said, work on longer distances. My 10K is just sub-38, my 5K is knocking on the door of 18:00. I've made the most gains by putting in loads of m...

Re: 5k test tomorrow any pacing advice?
Given your 2K, 1:57 pace for 5K should be doable.
I always pace according to 40/30/20/10 splits, so first 40%, 2K, at just slower than target, say 1:58, Next 1500m bang on pace, next 1000m hold on for dear life just under target, so 1:56, then the last 500m go for it!
Good luck!

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th
Finished the week with a 10K r20 - free pace, averaged 1:58.5, for a good solid workout. Total this week of somewhere over 50K, if my warm-ups are included (pace average usually about 2:05, so they should be I think!) Probably less this coming week as I'm away for a few days. May do a marathon at th...

Re: Advice on my training
What's good for aerobic base building is training at the aerobic threshold. I find it hard to do pure heart rate training - I don't know what to do about cardiac drift - and so I prefer to pick a pace and stick to it. For me, 2:00 is the right training pace, and is about 10K + 6, or 5K + 12 (wishful...

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th
Did a total of about 18K today. Usual 2k warm up, and then I set 60minutes on the PM, planning r20. Phone rang about 5 minutes in, had to take the call. Annoyed that it had ruined the piece, but since I wasn't very far in just set up 60' again and did 15001m, pace 2:00.0 at r20. Comfortable. May do ...

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th
i dont have plans going there but bonefixer - you really need to outlay your training plan, day by day. if you could give something like a weekly schedule of training, i would love to try and mimic that myself. do you think you'll be able to do that? I don't generally plan very far ahead, but here ...

Training for BIRC December 9th
Like a few others on here I suspect, I'll be going - thought I'd start a thread on training for it in particular. Apologies if it's in the wrong sub-forum, but this is the only one I usually look at. I'm aiming for sub 6:40. My plan is for September/October just do aerobic work in the form of hardis...

Even better than that, even on the calories setting each split was exactly the same. Now I've nailed it I may stop obsess...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
HD on a 6k  lack of sleep showed up clear as day on the truth machine today. + the 2 hour hike earlier... maybe should have left this for tomorrow. Oh well... at least i got 20 mins in. Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
1:18 Low pull. Does this count?
First time I've tried with the damper on maximum drag setting. In my warm-up with my regular 120 drag I only managed 1:21. Is this about the sort of improvement I should expect, or given my other PBs should my LP be better than it is?

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
30R20 - 7500m After my 1 hour row the other day I've developed a flat pacing obsession. So today's aim was for exactly 7500 in 30 minutes, at 20 spm, with each 6 minute split being exactly 1500m. Gutted that split 3 was 1501m and split 4 was 1499m. Anybody else do this sort of thing or am I the only...
