Re: Pete's Plan but for the BikeErg?

Just double the distances in the Pete plan for the bike. I just got the bike a couple of weeks ago. It's great.

Re: Average drag on a 30 min session

Just go my bikeErg a few weeks ago, but I set the damper to what cadence range I want to be at. I like to keep the cadence at least 75 so for my damper at 4 on my bike.

I know this thread is old but I just got my bike erg two days ago and thought I had a similar problem. The issue was that the right crank arm was not tightened enough.

Re: SkiErg first impressions

Hi all, I finally managed to buy a 2nd hand SkiErg, now sitting right next to a RowErg in my garage. For the time being, I use the SkiErg only as warm-up & cool-down in 3 out of 4 of my weekly rowing sessions, typically 10min warm-up and 10min cool-down. Only other workouts I've tried on the SikErg...

Re: High school female - erg question

IMO you should continue to swim if you enjoy it, and or are competitive in that you can vie for wins, and for the team camaraderie. Enjoy your high school years, once they're gone they're gone. You still have plenty of time after swim season and before the next row season to get your times down. Als...

Re: Complementary exercises for rowing

Based on "my" experience as I've gotten older, for the best overall health the primary form of exercise should be strength training. Doesn't have to be massively heavy, but a good hard strength session 4-6 days per week plus 2-4 HIIT sessions whether on cardio equipment or sets of burpees etc... is ...

Re: Fitness Watch/Tracker

The Apple watch does not connect to the PM5. It may connect to one of the rowing apps like ergdata. Seems it won't connect directly with hardware, only fitness apps.

The Apple watches in particular excel where the other fail- strength training.
But can Apple watches connect to a PM5?
Not sure. I’ll find out tonight. For me it doesn’t need to since I can just glance at the watch from time to time. I don’t need to see it on the monitor.

Re: Fitness Watch/Tracker

Probably a little or a lot late but this guy https://www.youtube.com/c/TheQuantifiedScientist has tested nearly all the smart watches and other wearables. Only the Apple watches and a couple of Hauwei watches have good HR accuracy for all types of exercises. The Apple watches in particular excel whe...

Re: Only training on the indoor rower

Add the fact though that weights can be dangerous. I ripped my adductor squatting, and it's never been quite the same since. It wasn't a form issue, just a general muscle belly tear which reading weights forums is a reasonably common thing when lifting heavier weights. Then after the muscle healed ...

Re: Only training on the indoor rower

Thank you all for the great information. I'll definitely experiment with different drag factors and see what feels best for me. I'll also look in the rankings to see at what level I am, but like someone pointed out: a good time is your PB minus one second. I really like that and it's true! Always t...

Re: Drag Factor Changes During Workout

If your preferred drag factor is 130-135 as shown on the PM then it doesn't matter that it shows something else on Ergdata. If your damper hasn't been changed the drag factor will remain the same. It's just numbers. The actual drag did not change just the reporting of it. Sorry, You couldn't be fur...

Re: Single leg rowing

Hey? Does anybody row with one leg long term? I’ve seen “drills”.. but I’m talking about indefinitely. I have patellofemoral arthritis in one knee after a reconstruction so get crepitus/inflammation if I go about bending the knee more than 20 degrees. (Also have a dodgy wrist so the ski erg isn’t a...

Re: Drag Factor Changes During Workout

I'm very sorry if the answer to my first question as a noobie is self-evident, but I am frankly stumped as to what is happening, and I'm not even sure if it is at all important. I read all the articles and posts I could explaining about the setting the drag factor setting with the damper. Then I we...
