Welcome aboard Mike. I just joined the team this year as well. I've been a runner since college, but had to accept the fact last year that my back couldn't take it any more. I've always been intrigued by rowing and in looking for a shell discovered indoor rowing. I personaly hit a wall when I got wi...

If you dont mind your hands looking and feeling a little rough for a while I would say to tough it out. Your hands will get use to it in time. However you should not be getting blisters so much on you palms and finger tips i dont think, more on the grips of your fingers (between knuckles and upper ...

Rowing Gloves?

Does anyone have suggestions for good indoor/outdoor rowing golves? I have yet to use gloves on the C2, but I do notice when I row long stretches my hands become pickled with the sweat. After 12 to 15K the calluses will start pulling off. I rarely go over 12K in a single sitting, so it hasn't been t...

I also am new to rowing (Started in January). I had many of the same concerns you are having. I've been a runner for the past 20+ years. Several years ago I got a bulging disk in my lower back and over time my body just told me it was time to stop running. I thought rowing would be a good alternativ...

I just started rowing about two months ago and am learning as I go. I just figured out the virtual team concept and joined Row Pain, Row Gain team. My main goal in starting rowing in the first place was to loose weight. Back problems have kept me from running for many months and I'd gained over 10 p...

[Did you take any very short, little breaks? Drink a lot? Have some calories? ] I took a short break every 7500 meters. I had water and a small bottle of gatoraid (90 cals) that I worked on each break. I have the C2 foam pad on the seat, but nothing else. Toward the end, I did find relief by changin...

Completing a Marathon

I started erging 10 weeks ago and completed my first half marathon this past Sunday. My time was 1:32:02. I was shooting for 1:30 or better. I would like to do a FM for the challenge, but I must say that the HM was so painful at the end, I can't even imagine sitting there for another hour and a half...

I've got ours in the bonus room over the garage. I wish I had a basement. :? We have about everything crammed in there. The corner of the room has the sloped ceiling that comes down to a knee wall. I have it positioned so my head clears the ceiling by a couple of inches. I also have a TV that I can ...

So far, I like shoes w/out "shock-absorbing" padding--I don't need to lose any of my effort to "padding." I wear shoes that look sort of like bowling shoes, but have a very flexible sole, so it is easy to rise up on the toes. Here's a picture of what I'm wearing now: http://www.pbase.com/image/5756...

I purchased my new model D in February. It's located upstairs in my house and my wife and kids say they can only hear me when I'm trying to set a new personal best, and then most of the racket is coming from my huffing and groaning and not the erg. I know most apartments are build with more insullat...
