Re: Concept 2 Strength Erg
Hello Interesting video about the Strength Erg and the former Concept Dyno (which I had never even heard of) The thing in the video about concentric and eccentric movements is very important and it's put a damper (pardon the pun  ) on my desire to buy a Strength Erg https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Re: Concept2 Bike Erg v Assault bikes
A better question is why would any serious cyclist want to use an assault bike?
Optimal positioning is necessary for a good cycling workout, and those lever arms only get in the way and prevent correct positioning, resulting in a very awkward motion.

Re: StrengthErg vs DYNO
Thanks It seems to me that the most obvious difference is that the new StrengthErg takes up less space. The individual in the video has not used the StrengthErg yet, so he cannot really comment on some of the more subtle differences. I used the DYNO in the past, and did not find that I got a good wo...

StrengthErg vs DYNO
There was a similar machine made by C2 a few years ago which its no longer available:

The obvious question is how does the new machine differ?

Re: ERGdata and Stairmaster HIIT
My gym used to have Concept 2's and they recently replaced them with the Stairmaster HIIT Rowers. Why, I don't know. I don't see this as an upgrade in any way. The look and feel is very similar to the C2, but I don't get how to use the monitor. Every time I look at the monitor to evaluate data, It s...

Re: dynamic vs static training
Rekers' patent would still have been in effect when C2 was developing its dynamic unit in 2010. Possibly to get around the Rekers patent C2 decided that in its design, instead of an energy dissipating unit moving fore and aft during use, only the footrests would move fore and aft. Hmm, so the paten...

dynamic vs static training
I have used all types of rowers, most frequently the standard or static c2. I have also used the C2 dynamic as well as other dynamic rowers. I have not really seen a major benefit of using a dynamic rower. I actually find it harder to maintain a consistent pace with a dynamic. I have actually gone b...

Re: rockers for bike erg base
There are now numerous rocker plates available that are compatible with indoor trainers for a bike. I haven't seen any specific for the BikeErg. One of these might might work: https://www.rockrindoortraining.com/store/p38/ROCKR_AXIS_%28PRE-ORDER_ONLY%29.html However the front end may be too narrow t...

Re: Vasa Paddles on SkiErg
Removing the handles was the only tricky part. Phillips screwdriver needed to loosen bolts. Then you have to hold on to the rope after removing handles so that the recoil won't pull the rope back through the pulley.
Attaching the Vasa paddles was as simple as tying a knot.

Re: Vasa Paddles on SkiErg
Yes, that's the idea. You're planning to use the skierg as a swim trainer?
I'm getting some elbow soreness with the stock handles, and I'm hoping this will take off some of the pressure.
It should be fairly easy to change it, but you never know, sometimes simple projects can be tricky

Re: Elbow/ulnar nerve soreness
I had the same a couple of years ago and it seems like it lasted a good six months. I attributed it to going hard and doing intervals before I built a base but not sure. I finally got tired of painful rows and chin ups so started doing more forearm work and icing/heating it and changed thumb positi...

Re: Elbow/ulnar nerve soreness
A quick glance at some of your profile information shows you’ve been on the forum since 2006, so I assume you’ve been rowing fairly consistently for about a decade and a half. You are giving me way too much credit. I have been on and off all those years. I have been back to doing it consistently ov...
