2k racing - does this make sense?
Currently I row a 2k with a DF of around 112 and at around SR of 29. A more experienced rower said recently I could look at trying a higher DF and SR. That sounded beyond me, but seeing the recent indoor rowing champs on YT I see a SR of 33-35 is quite normal. Is the idea behind a high SR to not let...

Competition protocol
Doing my first competition next week, could someone with some experience advise on the protocol on a couple of matters: - When you first sit at the erg are you allowed to touch the controls - for example to "set drag factor" and take a few strokes? Or do you just need to play with the damper? - Is i...

Re: Clearing stored workouts on gym’s C2
Well, I did a reset of the gym’s PM5and set it back up - resetting takes around 15secs, setting up about a minute. Didn’t touch the firmware though. The difference in the functionality of ErgData is night and day. When the data log is full on the PM5 nothing saves to ErgData either. When the data is...

Re: Clearing stored workouts on gym’s C2
Thanks both. Yes the firmware is way out of date 0 it’s on 16, I think the latest is around version 30. I’ll google the factory reset; fortunately the gym managers are too busy trying to flog PT sessions or 3 year non-cancellable memberships to worry about C2 data logs.

Clearing stored workouts on gym’s C2
Not sure where to put this one, so here goes:
When I finish a workout at my local gym it does not appear in the stored data, presumably because it is full - in fact the stored data stops in Jun 2018.
How can I clear the stored data, so the machine starts storing the latest workouts again?

That 1m metre pin
Coming up to the magic 1 million metres, and I’d like to get the 1m metre pin. I’m not from the US or Canada, but can you get this in the UK?

Re: Stroke rate and pace
Thanks for all the replies - appreciated.
Hjs (or anyone else) - so, if my watts per stroke does not change will the pace icon show a faster pace if I am rowing at 28 instead of 22. From your explanation and others I would say yes as I’m doing more work and should be going faster - correct?

Stroke rate and pace
I'm sure this is an easy one - I saw (on a YouTube vid) that the pace only measures the effort put in on the pull phase, but is it also affected by stroke rate? For example, if I pull at the same power at 22 strokes per min and 28 strokes per min, will the pace adjust to give a quicker pace? My brai...

Drag factor - damper
I get that different damper settings on different machines can give the same drag factor, and that dust etc has an impact. The erg in the gym I go to gets a drag factor of 120 at damper 7, which seems a low DF based on what I've read (I'm no expert). Is this low? What does it mean (the erg has a lot...

Re: Damper setting - I don't get it
Damper 6 was drag factor 125 (I don't know how that compares to other machines). Damper 10 was up around 190. I found 125 a big aerobic effort (for only 1k). I'll be trying a bit higher next time. What are the actual drag factor numbers on the monitor ? this is what is important to note down.

Re: Damper setting - I don't get it
Thanks guys for the replies. Having had another go on the rower today your replies are all making sense. My first effort a couple of days back was 3mins 54secs on damper 10, today I tried damper 6 - it was more or less the same time (3mins 51secs) but felt much harder. Proving to me that low damper ...
