I used to watch DVD's all the time for longer pieces a few years ago. As I pushed up intensity I find the movies rather disturbing. Today I prefer to listen to the flywheel and really focus on my technique. I frequently use Xeno's DVD's because that makes it easier to push myself hard.

Done!

I have now the challenge at 204.000m. I used Xeno's "100k/200k" workout DVD one more time for another quite tough workout.

Today I also passed the 4 mio mark lifetime meters.

Tomorrow morning I go again!

I am also in my mid forties and had the idea of building muscle through weight lifting a few years ago. All of us must decide what we really want and maybe your goal is to become big. I understood a while ago that my goal is to be strong and flexible with very good endurance. To that end I have chos...

I should add that I do train for Pittsburgh indoor rowing race in early February and Boston. That's the first time I join "real" races and I figured that the Pete plan is a good one to get in shape for such events.

I agree with your comments on changing the routine every so often both for rowing and supplemental activities. As a matter of fact, strength training using weights and tubes (I like tubes better) is only 1-2 /week on my agenda. I also use Pilates mat work for Core strength and overall conditioning c...

how do you train?

I would be interested to learn more about the way other erg maniacs structure their training. How many session/meters would you row per week? training structure (endurance vs. intervals, etc). What about supplementing strength training, stretching, core work? I do ca. 50-70k per week (6-8 sessions p...

JM got it right. I have been skinny all my life with very little muscle mass. Approaching age 40 I developed a nasty waistline that provoked some hust as nasty comments from my wife and really looked ugly given my ectomorph body. In Fall 2003 I started rowing on the C2 and over the years i gradually...

I don't use a pad because that hasn't worked for me. Just make sure you sit tall on your sitting bones. Spend a few seconds before you start rowing to get yourself sitting "right".

In my early indoor rowing days I would watch TV or (action) movies. I could watch with no guilt due to the exercise. As I started rowing more regular and intense I increasingly found satisfaction in the exercise itself. I use RowPro SW and like the grahic animation on the plasma screen in front of t...

Can the new DVD be ordered like the other ones? When will it be available?

Are you going to produce a cross training DVD (stretching, strength trsining specific for rowing)?
