Re: Gloves for grip?
For decades I preferred rowing with padded cycling gloves, but I did not like their "feel", I felt I wasn't as in touch with the handle as I'd like to be. Then I noticed a post someplace in this forum about a company that specializes in various types of rowing gloves. I've had a couple of pairs and ...

Re: Heart rate monitor confusion !!!
Turns out I'm too fat for the polar chest strap ! Found that Garmin hrm dual fits, but don't know which watch is compatible ? Google isn't ant help lol. I think the Polar will fit because I actually think they sell it in sizes and it isn't expensive. Just about any type of sensor and strap will do ...

Re: Picked up a model B - what to change?
One other idea about "grinding noise". Are you sure the grinding noise is coming from the front end of the rower at the bearings or clutch? My Model B on a couple of occasions over the years starting to make a "grinding" noise. However, the noise was coming from inside the rail. The Model B had a re...

Re: Picked up a model B - what to change?
Wow..... I'm jealous. That set up looks great. I'd love to get my hands on an old Model B, for practical as well as nostalgic reasons. I have a Dynamic now, but at times I'd like to just stretch out and relax with a traditional rowing work out. I'm so happy for you.... Your rower (sans the backwards...

Re: Waterproof cover UK
I purchased the water resistant cover from C2 over 20 years ago for my Model B. It is the same cover they sell now (at least it looks the same from what I can see on the Web site) and it also was designed to fit the Model D. At the time it was marketed as water resistant, NOT water proof. I have bee...

Re: Model D chain is noisy, especially during recovery
One of the "new" features that was touted when this model came out was the new more quiet action of the chain and sprocket. A (I think neoprene) rubber washer is located on either side of the sprocket. This quiets the chain as it runs over the sprocket. Last year I decided to replace the chain and t...

Re: Do you change your grip position during workouts?
Yes, I do. I generally row with an overhand grip with my fingers wrapped around the handle and my forefinger resting on the flat under portion of the handle located towards the center of the handle so that my two hands are close together. In all instances, my grip is such that the muscles of my fing...

Re: Rowing after hip replacement, RP3
I agree with you 100% about the fact that rowing "dynamically", whether on the C2 Dynamic or the RP3 would involve less stress. And, I do think you will be automatically less inclined to flex in ways that would be unhealthy given your situation. The only question would be how to ensure that it would...

Re: Rowing after hip replacement, RP3
I have seen RP3's online and they are amazing machines. When I recuperated with my hip I was on a regular C2 model D. Recently I purchased a C2 Dynamic. I still have have the model D in another location. I think that the motion of the Dynamic or RP3 would complicate how you would ensure that you did...

Re: Rowing after hip replacement, RP3
I'm 74 and I had a complete hip replacement over a decade ago. In the early 90's I had back surgery,on the lower spine. I started rowing in the mid 80's and purchased a concept 2 a few years before my back issues. The C2 had nothing to do with my back injury. After my back surgery I was able to begi...

Re: Dynamic C2 vs. the "D", musing of Recent Dynamic Purchaser
Thanks so much for pointing this out to me. I stand corrected. I missed the very important fact that the Concept Dynamic WAS included in the study. And the study was between only the Concept D and the Concept Dynamic. If I understand you correctly (it's been a while since I read the research paper) ...

Re: Dynamic C2 vs. the "D", musing of Recent Dynamic Purchaser
I'm the guy who started this thread with my experiences comparing a well maintained 20004 model D with a Dynamic. I recounted how I was trying to decide whether to purchase a second D, for a different location, or a Dynamic. In my post, I recounted how I made the decision to buy a Dynamic and why I ...

Yes I still have it, and I have the sensor that plugs into the monitor so you can use a polar heart rate monitor with it as well. All free.

PM 3 + Cable + 8 Formatted Log Card Free + postage
I recently decided to upgrade to a PM 5. As a result, I have a 2004 PM3 that is in perfect condition, without battery compartment corrosion. I also have 8 log cards with sleeves that have been reformatted. I will mail all this via USPS to anyone who would like to use it. Just email me and I will sen...

Re: Dynamic C2 vs. the "D", musing of Recent Dynamic Purchaser
First of all, thank you for sharing your experience! However, I think that the are large numbers of enthusiastic home rowers of all ages who would prefer the Dynamic. One of the things I wonder about is wether the forces play out differently on a dynamic, making it more suitable for injury prone pe...
