Re: How to start?
I had a start on it 2 years ago using the Android Java libs within Kivy, but got busy and it's sat since then.

That's cool, but I was referring to Bluetooth connectivity to the erg in python.

Re: How to start?
Take a look at these two repos for a start:
https://github.com/tijmenvangulik/ErgometerJS
https://github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/rowing-monitor
Let us know if you port any of this code to python - that would be awsome.

Re: Can anyone suggest any books on rowing/erging?
'The Shell Game' by Kiesling should be on any list of rowing books.

Re: Boy's in the Boat
''The Shell Game' by Stephen Kiesling is my all-time favorite book on rowing. He captures what it was like to row in college very accurately.ShowMeState1977 wrote:Are there any other rowing books worth reading? I just finished Boys in the Boat and am looking for something else to read.

Re: Wireless headphones?
I use Etymotic passive noise cancelling earbuds and a Koss infrared adapter to transmit sound from the PC to a little module that clips to my waist. The earphones plug into it. I like this over radio wireless as there is no static or interference and I can use the higher-quality earphones in other p...

Re: Online rowing, a proposal.
DynRow is evolving along those lines - https://github.com/monsdar/dynrow
When doing intervals, you can row against yourself in previous intervals.
There are also some robot boats designed to keep you challenged.
It's a free program

Re: Web ergometer and google earth
Just saw this. Very cool! If you want, feel free to use the files from ErgTour to create additional venues (Head of the Charles, Doggett's Coat and Badge, and the old Head of the Cuyahoga course).

Re: Virtual reality rowing
I've been rowing and (mostly) erg'ing for almost 30 years. Having some form of visual motivator, other than movies or baseball games, would be great. There was a VHS video produced years ago called "Power Ten". They set up a camera in the bow seat of an 8 and a 4x looking back at the rowers toward ...

Re: Delta Rower gameplay footage up
I can certainly appreciate that. I've a little android app for graphing from the online logbook. Years later, would not have recovered even a small portion of the development time if it were strictly a business venture. :( Delta Rower still looks a whole lot better than some other professional rowin...

Re: Delta Rower gameplay footage up
Thanks for trying to get it going on win 10. Each release changes things. That is what took out the ErgMate distribution.
If you are shelving it, would you consider open sourcing there code and making it available?

I wanted to give this a try, but on Windows 10 the program comes up but nothing happens when I start rowing on the erg (with a PM5).

Re: Newbie Info Plz "Software Choices"
DynRow (free and open source) has more interesting pace boats. You do have to manually install Python to get it running though.

Re: Post workouts to Facebook? How I motivate myself.
I had a prototype going of an app that would post to twitter when you started a workout and post occasional updates on the piece. It would then read back any replies while you were rowing. The idea was that friends could tweet back to you to 'keep going' or hassle you if you slowed down. Didn't purs...
