Ltwt College Rowing

Hey there, I just finished my senior year in the realm of collegiate lightweight rowing and thought that I could offer additional advice that the previous post didn't hit on. I found that the best "gains" in erg times came when I stuck to the plan and treated each workout seriously. If you make rowi...

Training for a 500m Sprint...

Hey there, I recently graduated from my collegiate rowing program and am entering law school in the fall. I have no real interest in rowing 2k's anymore lol...but I have challenged all of the men at our school to beat me at a 500m sprint each year at the local erg sprints. For each guy that can beat...

Just to add my experiences... I have fooled around with some novice racing before at arms (and arms and back only)...and I have found that arms only I can reach about a 1:55 average for a couple strokes, and with arms and back I can reach 1:38 for a couple strokes as well. I did a 100m sprint (half ...

Workout from Hell?

Hey all, Today our coach assigned the following workout...I follow the Pete Plan and wolverine threads almost religiously, and I was looking for some thoughts on if this workout is even "doable"... 4 x 7:00 (4:00 rest) at 2k pace (We just did a 2k test last Wednesday so the pace from that test is to...

I think that was his question...given that he is rowing them in 50mins would indicate (and would make sense if watching a show) that its not nearly taxing enough. Yeah...50mins of cardio is still better than sitting on your butt watching television, but I would argue if your 2k time is still sub 7 a...

Hey Eric, I had a final comment regarding the "gold standard". I completely understand that by achieving the gold standard you will have a chance to row at St. Catherines, etc. Here's my thing...as a rower what is your ultimate goal? Is St. Catherine's the end of the line for you and rowing? Just wo...

Hey there, Here at my school we don't really have the "gold standard" set-up, but I set goals for my guys and push them hard to reach them (some are just out of reach to them...but they usually will hit the goal). We had one rower which came here freshman year out of high school who weighed 145 poun...

Hey there, I think it is probably a result of just starting a concrete plan three weeks ago (well doing the plan continusously for three weeks now), and not taking a real day off. When the workout has called for a 10k at a moderate pace, I am more inclined to think that I have done it too fast, beca...

Happy Thanksgiving all... My holiday challenge started off on a rough note...had a hard time completing my PP workout this morning and it popped a question into my head. Have any of you all felt "burnt out" when erging etc...like no matter how hard your mind pushes your body is just out of it...it s...

From what I have heard ACRA is a rather new development...but as far as competition goes, I would tip the scale to SIRA, as many coaches and commentators have described the level of talent at SIRA as pretty comparable to Dad Vails...for example MV8 if you can make medal stand, you stand a great chan...

Ahh...I see. Oh well, I don't particularly need the predictor, was just trying to relate other posts to my sap story lol. Thanksgiving break starts on Wednesday for us here...hopefully I can fight off the fat and remain ltwt during the holiday torture lol. **On a side note, I used to have a CTC "PR ...
