Re: What makes you good on an erg?
I just had to check, 5.53.4 actually :-) It was serious question, its interesting getting other peoples views. The 'Grudge Match', very staged event, good cop bad cop, or in this case good erger, bad erger!! I can't watch it myself as it makes me cringe. Mental toughness is a huge part of rowing a 2...

HR erg against run
173 was achieved a few years ago, I could hit it when completing a max effort session, run, cross train or erg!
I remember when erg fit I could push my HR to around 153 before needing to back off, ive got a way to go to get back there!!![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

HR erg against run
Thanks for the replies. Both workouts were maximum efforts. My max HR is 173, although at the moment I cant get anywhere near that, I can get to low 150's!
So to improve erg fitness I need to get back on the erg, bit dull compared to a run in the country!!![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

HR erg against run
Just after thoughts on how HR affects your ability to sustain effort. I know my level of fitness will be reflected by my HR during sessions however comparing these 2 workouts, why wasnt I able to maintain a higher HR during the erg, I had to back off as soon as my HR got to 135ish, except for the la...

Pete Plan Summer 2015 starts June 14
In my opinion, it has some flaws! Pete mentions this plan will make you faster 'tomorrow' than 'today', what is meant by tomorrow? If 'you' do a 2k today, will you be faster for your 2k tmrw, and again on friday? Or does it mean each 3 week cycle? There is too much rest between intervals, full recov...

Set off with 1.50 as a target, pretty happy. Keeping HR under 147 was the key, over that I had to back off!!

What makes you good on an erg?
What seperates the ave from the good, the good from the great and the great from the best ? Do you train to be the best you can be or train for fun? Do you ever think I will never get beyond X? Do you set realistic or unrealistic goals? I did 6.50 for 2k last week, what can I achieve next week, next...
