Footstop Heights

For years I've always heard to just figure it out through experience or what feels comfortable, but is there a good way to determine where they should be set? I used to use the "3" height but just recently I've tried moving to "2". I have been gaining pretty good flexibility and now stretch daily so...

Time away from rowing during the offseason

Hello all, as fall racing nears to an end I have begun to think about the upcoming off season and how I want to approach it. I have found in the past 5-6 years I've rowed (OTW) that the winter season (too cold to row otw) has been very erg heavy and very early. What I mean is after maybe a week off ...

Technically there is no downside, but a clif bar and muscle milk after every workout will probably add up to at least $150 a month

Jaime, I am 20 years young. I understand and respect your concern and opinion. The last thing I want to do is injure myself, so if I do follow thru I will be very careful and steady about high damper pieces.

how to increase my anaerobic alactate capacity???

I've found that over the past few winters I have made good improvements in 2k, and 5k times, and although I don't have the best scores on the team I am pretty competitive. However when comparing things like lowest pull, and 60 second pieces I am really lacking, even being outdone by people with slow...

Pacing for a 60' test?

I've never done an hour test, but I'm interested in doing one. I was wondering what a reccomended rating and split would be based on a 2k, 5k, or 6k performance.

Well I'm very happy on 3 counts today 1) my split pacing was very good - even if I say so myself, 2) I increased my pace from 27 to 29 SPM and it paid off in spade loads and 3) I did a 10k warm up first thing this morning for the NARC. New 6k time of 20:57.8 at an average split of 1:44.8 - 1k split...

6k = 26 minutes

Is that a misprint? If you are under 7 minutes on your 2k I would assume you should at least be in the 22:30's

Re: Weight Training

This winter I have no access to an erg and my ability to run outside is severly hampered. This leaves the weight room almost exclusively. What would be most beneficial for my 2k? I'm more concerned with upper-body rather than lower body since my lower body has never been a problem. Bench, curls, di...

...on a 6 minute VO2 test.... that means he did it with one of those breathing masks and tubes attached!!? Actually, don't quote me on that. It may have just been a 6 minute test (but when you are at that level I guess its just a nice way to say 2k). So I'm not 100% sure if it was a V02 test or not.

Was the erg test done on slides? Because I've heard sliders will drop a some time off your splits. I'm not doubting his time, because chances are he a few pounds above weight and would be able to perform better without the cut. I think its believable, the Danish lightweight Stephansson(sp?) pulled 1...

OK: You guys are motivating me to go to Boston. And my wife is on board. We'll go for dinner thar Friday night with her Mass General friends (I'll be the one eating air). It's great to read about your progress and passion for this. It's contagious. Today was the Sunday long row. I did a 2-hour piec...

low rate, power pieces

what is everyone's opinion on a workout, such as 4x2k @16-18 with FULL power, and a few mins rest in between each 2k? I'm not sure if this would classify as SS or AT, and what type of HR it could achieve. I've done this type of workout on the water, usually early in the season and its always been on...

Fluidesign singles

Just wondering what people thought of them. I have the choice of renting a lightweight 2002 hudson single or a 2005-06 lightweight fluid single this summer. I'm obviously going to try both, but any info from people with experience with fluids? Also, I am using C2 sculling smoothies, and I am wonderi...
