Can I row with a broken foot?
I posted the following message in the FAQ and realized that it is more appropriate to have it here: I turned my foot four weeks ago and assumed it was a tendon sprain. I resumed rowing after a few days and continue to row daily ( 8-15k). I don't have any significant pain while rowing. However, I sti...

Can I still row with an foot fracture?
I turned my foot four weeks ago and assumed it was a tendon sprain. I resumed rowing after a few days and continue to row daily ( 8-15k). I don't have any significant pain while rowing. However, I still have pain during any weight bearing activity. I went to the doc today and he diagnosed an avulsio...

Jumping ship?
No- I just prefer to row in quiet anonymity--setting my own goals and striving to meet them without much ado.
I wish all of you well. Happy Rowing.

Apologies
I offer apologies for being a bit testy. My personal reference was uncalled for. However, my main point remains the same. The comment about "crew" was not constructive and served no purpose other than to point out another's "failings." That's not what this forum is all about.

What makes the women's forum special...
...is the lack of ego ( or is it testosterone?), supportive comments for those at ALL rowing level and the general goodwill and comraderie it displays. I stopped reading several other sections of the forum because I was sick to death of sniping and pettiness. Although the addition of the Rant and Ra...

technique tips
Hi, all- it was great to read the technique tips. I'm a "newbie"--just started rowing last July. Somehow along the way I got it in my head that the recovery should be 1/3 and the drive 2/3. I think that initially I had it correct but who knows what happened---too much rowing info. got deposited in m...

Keep on rowin!!
Hi, Birdi-- Hey gal, you sneaked by today on my rest day. Good for you. I'm not chasing you--I'm cheering you on! Well--it was supposed to be a rest day but I sneaked in a short 3k to give me some wiggle room down the line. I think that I'm going to need it as my back is beginning to kill me. I'll r...

Greetings from NE WA state! It is snowing like crazy up here today--the forcast predicts 10 ". Luckily my all wheel drive Subaru is oufitted with studded tires on all four wheels so getting to the gym is no problem. Having lived in the Puget Sound area all of my life it is a hoot to now live in a pl...

How do you do it?
I'm inordinately impressed with the high mileage ( or is that meterage?) that so many of you seem to be pulling for the HC. I'm also discouraged at my own performance. I pulled 47k this last week and I ( or my back) can't imagine rowing many more meters per week. . So- kudo's to all of you "iron wom...

Thanks Kiwi Rower!
Hey, you are correct--who says that I can't make my own 150k certificate?? I'm entering December with 50 k under my belt so I'm now aiming for 175k. We'll see. I decided that I needed to work on my technique so I hired a local trainer to help me. Pivot at the hips he said. I did and couldn't walk fo...

more weather reports
Hi, all- Another weather report from the great northwest. I'm up in the NE corner of WA state and we have a foot of snow and -7 degrees as our temp. Now is one of the times that I'm happier to be rowing rather than running!! Too bad that there isn't a 150k challenge. 200 is just a bit beyond my rang...

Just ordered a shirt
Hi, Grams- Thanks so much for taking the lead and designing the shirt. It's just what I need to keep me motivated as I row through the long Republic winter. Although I still miss running terribly, I must say that rowing in a a comfortably heated gym sure beats traversing slick and snowy roads. I sus...
