Re: Pete Plan Autumn 2015
So, I just did the speed pyramid and beat my last PB, but I am wondering 1 thing.. http://i.imgur.com/mxbNXsR.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3RFdvPZ.jpg Last september when I did this with an overall split of 1:52.1, I was hitting heart rates of 180 on a few of the intervals, with similar splits as today, ...

Re: Pete Plan Autumn 2015
I'm finally getting back into it after finishing my cut last year. In oct/nov/dec last year I had minimal motivation to row since I was over 6 months into cutting and felt drained all the time, so I wasn't doing too many hard pieces. I made a new PB for the first time on a piece since last september...

Re: First marathon - what time to aim for?
I'm thinking a Camelbak and some sort of IV stand or crane arm and the tygon tubing hanging free. Gels and water bottles are not a big problem pulling with one hand so I don't think I'd bother with water bladders of any sort. Do need to get your fingers in the relieved web at the center of the mode...

Re: First marathon - what time to aim for?
For your water needs, go to the pet store, get a few feet of that plastic tubing they use to pump air into an aquarium. Then go to the hardware store and pick up a 5 gallon bucket. Fill the bucket with water and hold 1 end of the tubing in your mouth and drop the other end into the bucket. You can s...

You need to do intervals as well.
Not only is doing only 1 workout boring as hell, but it's less effective than switching it up.

Re: 10k Test Advice
I feel like intentionally going for a pretty significant deficit the first 5K and then making it all up in the last 1K would be pretty brutal, even more so mentally. I don't really go for an all out best on longer pieces, but by the time I'm on the last 1K of a 10K the last thing I want to do is spr...

Re: Pete Plan Summer 2015 starts June 14
Did the speed pyramid today, came in at 1:52.1, 1.5 seconds faster than about a month and a half ago. Stayed a steady 1:53.x for the first 4, then 1:52.x for the 750, 1:50.x for the 500, and 1:40.x for the 250. But that's not the full story. My heart rates at the end of each piece were a little bit ...

It's funny, after finishing the 2K it's a great feeling for about 15 seconds, then crippling pain for the next 10 minutes. (Then after it feels pretty good again)G-dub wrote:Good going on the 2K! It sure is a sweet feeling once it's done and you feel satisfied you did your best on the day.

How do people row their best 2K and not be dying afterwards?
After I do a 2K I have pain so bad that if I had the choice of having to endure that pain for 24 hours or put a gun to my head I'd probably choose the latter.

Re: HR erg against run
I would also say it depends on the exercise you're more trained in.
I hit a HR of 191 today at the end of a 2K row. There's 0 chance I would hit that doing running. (Because I would bitch out before hitting that threshold)

Just finished my 2K row scheduled for today. Original target was 7:35 set 6 weeks ago, revised to 7:40 last week.. Actual results: http://i.imgur.com/q3pSU9x.jpg July 12: 7:48.1 @ 171 lbs. 218.5 watts @ 77.5 kg = 2.82 watts / kg Aug 30: 7:36.5 @ 165 lbs. 235.6 watts @ 74.8 kg = 3.15 watts / kg 7.8% ...

Re: Pete Plan Summer 2015 starts June 14
A month of traveling south america and a week of jetlag induced couch potato => Time to start again from scratch. Started with a steady 6k today, felt good. Isn't it just amazing just how fast your body decays when you get lazy? Indeed! I wasn't expecting it to be this bad though. Didn't feel like ...

Re: Pete Plan Summer 2015 starts June 14
When people ACTUALLY row the full marathon though, do they go without water for the whole time? Or do they do some kind of beer hat type dealio? I imagine stopping even for 15 seconds would be unacceptable if you're trying to do a best time. I don't remember any report of anyone doing that. A numbe...
