Re: Older ergers
Sorry folks, the bug in the forum bit again. Hopefully this time the ban works, and we can quietly look forward to Ranger's triumphant return in March.

Re: Older ergers
Thank you all for your feedback on this thread and others. I don't know why ranger has been posting - the forum software thinks he is still banned, but clearly he's back. The original founder of this forum was not a fan of censorship, so perhaps his spirit has lifted the ban (he's not dead, just no ...

Re: Your help please
Further to Sackly's point, aim to spend twice as long on the recover as the drive (rather than the ~1:1 ration you currently have). Keeping that sort of ratio (or even 3:1 - not realistic for a race, but perfectly reasonable for practice and training) while keeping a rating around 18-24 will enforce...

Re: Newbie technique video
It's easier to assess form if the video is taken from the side, but it looks like your sequencing is wrong. You're aiming for legs-back-arms on the drive, and while some blurring of the lines is fine, you appear to be doing back-legs-arms.

Re: SPM question
Almost certainly this is because your stroke is wrong - to be moving up and down that quickly, while producing that little speed, means you're not properly driving with your legs. There's lots of advice on here and on the C2 website about the proper stroke, but for you the basic is lower your SPM an...

Use of URL shorteners
An awful lot of the spam we get on the board makes use of url shorteners such as bitly and shrinkme. As well as being unfriendly for your reader, your post (and even your account) is much more likely to be deleted as spam if you use such services. So don't!

Re: PM5 going to 'sleep' in rest periods?
I've never timed a break (and it's many years since I rowed far enough to need one!), but when I did I had time to run upstairs to the bathroom, deal with the necessary, pour a glass of OJ and head back down to the erg before it timing out. So maybe brief the missus on what to do if you get locked i...

Re: URLs in signature / forum - have stopped working
Should be fixed now - you may need to go into your profile and click submit to make it refresh (and while you're there check that 'Disable BBCode' is unchecked).

Re: URLs in signature / forum - have stopped working
Very odd - nothing has changed in the settings since a database upgrade a week ago. I've re-saved the appropriate settings in case that helps, but it appears not. I'll pass this up the chain.

Re: Link to logbook in signature - doesn't work
John - My guess is that you had the 'disable BBCode' box checked, which would stop it from working. Anyway, it looks like it's working now

I've received Paul45's request, and will comply after a cooling off period.
Simple bolt-ons are rarely as simple as you might expect. It's not in my power to add such things, and I wouldn't expect to see them I'm afraid.

Re: IP blocked error
More of an admin error I'm afraid! We get a quite astonishing amount of spam, and one of the techniques used to stop it is blocking IP addresses that are used to sign up spammy users. Unfortunately one of the addresses blocked this morning appears to be critical to the ongoing operation of the forum...

Re: Hello to all!!
To explain Citroen's comment a little - we get a huge amount of spam attempts on the forum. While we rarely get Italian spam we get it in foreign languages we don't speak often enough that we'll almost certainly delete it without knowing whether it's real or not. So while it would be lovely to have ...

Re: Endurance rowing
Back when I rower a few marathons I had a CamelBak bladder set up next to the rower on a make-shift stand. I could grab the nozzle on the recovery, take a drink while I took a few light strokes, then spit it out. Worked fine for me, and for me wearing a backpack would have been really uncomfortable.
