Here's another vote for the mile. Loved it as a runner, and still use the 1609 number in multiples to compare with old running times.
4 minutes is #2 on the list. With shorter distances, several attempts can be made in any given month, though they are definitely more painful!

Butt slide
Tom and Rick, I agree that the spm feel best between 35-40. I have racheted down the damper to 6 and got my latest PR at 1:44.8. A little less slide this time. Will try 5+ damper to get a faster start, but if I go too low, my lack of leg length really factors into the equation. I have less pull on t...

Alissa, Early in the drive, with the force of the thrust generated by the quads, I can move back on the seat an inch or two. I constantly have to readjust in the recovery. This is only an issue with a maximal effort up to 2k. I do go a little side to side because of a mild leg length discrepency. My...

Butt slide
Tried the double sided tape with no success. When I did the 1:45 the other day, I still felt like I could have gone 1-1.5 seconds faster with the sliding eliminated. What damper settings are you guys doing these short sprints at? I have had no luck with the lower settings (2-4) as I don't feel smoot...

Butt slide
Fellow UNM teammates, I come to you with an urgent concern that must be addressed immediately. This is a problem I've had for 3 years now and occurs every time I attempt an all-out effort at a short distance on the erg. Yes, you guessed it...the dreaded "butt slide". With the "drive" portion of the ...

Tom, I was a bit sabbotaged this week since I spread too many yards of mulch. Still worked out daily but the legs were fatigued. Will make an all-out attempt at getting back in boat #1 by mid-week. My secret..."it only hurts for 3:40", or as we said while we were in my exercise physiology lab doing ...

Training
Hello all!! Most of my training is subjected to severe time restraints and exercising at crazy times of the day. So I tend to warm up with an easy 10-15 minutes and then go at 85-95% max HR most of the time. Since I only historically average 6K over the 365 days each season (actually closer to 9K pe...

Sorry I missed out on the solstice row. Stuck doing a 12-hr shift with 90 minutes of driving for a near 14-hr day. What is the link for the Cross team challenge? Looks like Dave is issuing a challenge to all other Rowbos. I'll echo it...who wants to kick out a skinny little lightweight like me from ...

Nice job getting this set up Rick!
On a different note, Bonnie must enjoy a little pain also doing a half at 2:30 am. I thought I was nuts doing a 10 k by 5:30 am before a 12-hr shift!
Row well UNM.
