Re: Rookie Pre-Program Start Questios
Well done on starting rowing, @raptor. I'm sure you'll find benefit in it. And in particular, well done on starting the Pete Plan for Beginners (PPB) which is excellent. We're about the same age (I'm 67 next month) so perhaps some of my notes might be of use to you. Confession: I've started the PPB ...

Re: Losing a few pounds - especially stop-start 'mature' ergers
Most importantly, have fun while rowing. Enjoy the process, and ignore the goal. I like music while rowing, I have EXR Game on (which is fed data by the PM5), and when I have an off day I still try to get on the Erg, but then for a slow row or a short distance. But I try to get on the Erg. TBH, I d...

Losing a few pounds - especially stop-start 'mature' ergers
Hi All. Apparently this subforum is a bit of a magnet for spammers, hence the number of locked topics. I'll give it another go as I think weight loss is a key reason many of us start erging in its various forms (rowing and ski-ing in my case). So how's your weight-loss going? I've had my rower since...

Just curious. Thanks.

Re: RowErg creeping forwards
I had this problem when my rower was on a lacquered wooden floor. I fixed the problem by putting a thin rubber-backed yoga mat under the rear feet of the C2. It solved the problem instantly. Any rubbery mat should do the job as long as it's fairly thin.

Re: Focus vs. Distraction
Usually I listen to podcasts. I'll sometimes watch a Netflix or Amazon Prime documentary on computer. At the weekend I'll try to time my longer rows to coincide with a football (i.e. 'soccer') match. Off the erg I listen to audiobooks a lot but I find them too passive for rowing. I prefer the energy...

Re: My first day with my indoor rowing machine
So this is day 1. My excitement is through the roof. I bought a brand new concept 2 rower and set it up myself. I love rowing and hope to whip myself into shape. Any advice for this newbie? I wonder how long the OP retained his/her enthusiasm? They haven’t revisited the forum since the moment of th...

Re: 1,000,000 meters done
Reaching the 2m and 4.5m milestones within a year are really incredible achievements. Well done to both. I reached 1 million metres last year but I'm too embarrassed to say how long it took me! (Even if not having my rower with me for nearly 2 years does give me a small excuse.) Really amazing and v...

Re: 1 month in and no change... suggestions?
A lot of interesting and useful advice and ideas on this thread. For the OP, or any other new rower, the sheer volume of suggestions might seem overwhelming. Instead of inspiring it might be confusing -- though I don't doubt for a second the good intentions of all the contributors. The truest insigh...

Re: Training lost on PM5 - battery status reliable?
As someone said, do try ErgData if you have WiFi available. I messed around with USB sticks for the first 2 years I had my C2 but it was always touch-and-go whether it would work. Now, I still plug in the USB as a backup but rely on ErgData via phone or iPad to record and upload a session to the C2 ...

Re: Looking for a Plan........
If you're looking to end up at 10K, you're the perfect candidate for the Pete Plan for Beginners (PPB), which starts with 5K rows and gradually takes you to 12K sessions over 24 weeks, with an extended stay at the 10K mark. https://thepeteplan.wordpress.com/beginner-training/ As for where to start, ...

Re: Used model D, any advice appreciated
Oh dear, looks like I've offended a few people with my remarks....let me apologize to those, especially the OP. I plead mea culpa. If there was any snarkiness in my response, it was not directed at the OP but those who price gouge. I completely assumed OP had never erged or worked out & was concern...

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Hi, New the the PP and wondered if anybody could point me in the direction a copy of the plan. I've found machars.net which seems pretty clear but I'm not certain what the '+1/3' represents where it says "2k +3/1". ANY help greatfully received. Rgds Nige Be aware that there's the 3-week 'Pete Plan'...

Re: New to erging or wondering why you're not improving? Here's some good info.
There are many ways to skin the training cat. [/b] Agreed. I'm no Erging expert but based on my experience as a runner I'd say that the title of the thread is a little misleading. I'd been running for a few years when I discovered the books of Dr George Sheehan, and his perspectives really opened m...

Re: Used model D, any advice appreciated
I rarely buy anything second-hand. Just a personal trait I guess, but I would wait for the new C2 to become available. A brand new, shiny machine will be more motivating, as will the new PM5 with nothing on the clock. Whichever, I’d warmly recommend getting an erg for home use. It may take a little ...
