Thought I'd try the 1/2 marathon again today as everthing seem lined up...pesky chest cold finally gone for good, well rested and legs fresh after a 8k trail run 3 days ago. not a pb but a seasonal best 7792m in 30min....still well off pb from 2005 of 7924

started out at 156.5 for first half then increased .5 every 1000m....felt strong through the finish, last 800m at 151

every time I do this piece my respect grows for those who manage 8k

Andy, welcome back! I've had the pleasure of rowing the b model and must say they are bulletproof...it'll still be in service decades from now. Ballgame, congrats on picking up a C2, having it readily avaiable is a huge plus given your busy family situation.

Do you have a heart rate monitor? Consider one if you don't as they help a lot in seeing your progress improve.

nice autumn day here in southern B.C.

went for a 45 min trail run in morning

this evening did a 5000 at 207 warmup, followed by 5x1000 at 150 3rest
2000 at 215 cool down, 167 ehr on last interval and glad to get it done for the week

Thanks for the feedback guys ... much appreciated. My pb is only 6 months old....I do a fair amount of trail running in late summer thru the fall months and felt the extra conditioning might show up in a sub 84...you're right though, it was too much to expect. Nasty half marathon attempt

5 weeks ago I bailed out of a 1/2 marathon attempt...my goal was a sub 84 min at a 159 pace.... my pb 85min50secs. My strategy was a steady 201 pace with a short burst (230 metres) at a 156 pace every 1000 metres. Worked well for 14k..legs felt strong, breathing fine, heart rate 153 .... situation q...
