I think I read somewhere that Stephansen won some Junior international thing in a double. I saw him after the race and though he didn't look to tired maybe right after the piece was done, that was probably the pump up you must get from winning an Open event at 18. Later he was on the floor bleeding ...

Craziest part of the race: stephansen throwing his erg all over the place off the start...I was a little busy and thought maybe his erg broke or something when I heard the announcer but then somebody showed me video. He wound up the rating so high that the check sent his erg running into the stands....

Seeding is up for Crash-b...anybody know why Elia Luini isn't in there? Henrik has an excellent chance of winning, he's beat his other major competition.

My original line of thought was that in order to be able to maintain a higher stroke rating (well, REALLY high, above 42), it might be necessary to decrease the drag. With lower drag the fan slows down less in between strokes and so there is less acceleration on each stroke=less time on each drive=h...

Yea i just looked at some of the pictures somebody posted and it looks like they are set at around a 4 on most of the men's ergs that I can see, which doesn't give any sure measurement but it's not extremely low or high. I would like to see Stephansen row the erg very much now, hopefully I can catch...

I think the current weight classes are fine for indoor rowing. There are two class for on water rowing, heavy and lightweight. The reason that the limit is 165 is because thats about as heavy as most lightweight rowers allow themselves to become in the off season, when most erg races are held. Durin...

Ha, looks like Henrik has set a bit of a fashion with his 41 spm. Who has seen any of these guys row in the high stroke rates? I'm curious as to how low a damper setting they use. 110, 100? I figure it must be pretty low.

After workout eats/drinks

I have been thinking about nutrition, and a lot of people have told me what you put into your body in the first 20-30min after a hard workout is one of the most important things about the workout and the recovery afterwords. What do you all eat/drink directly after a hard workout on the erg/boat/wei...

WOW. I am ready to call Elia Luini and ask him what the hell he does. Loosing 3 pounds and dropping my 2k 40 seconds would be pretty sweet. That is riddiculous. I'm cured of wanting to be bigger, just stronger is fine.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm looking to get stronger while at least maintaining or remaining close my current level of aerobic fitness. I figure if i can get more strength and keep my current aerobic ability/improve it, times pretty much have to go down a lot more than if i concentrate on improvi...

Yea i row on the water. I row sweep for club/school teams and am starting to scull, probably row a double or quad over the summer with some guys. I'm interested in on water rowing first, ergs are important though. I think that 165 is a reasonable weight and I would be quite happy to be 165 all muscl...

Weight Training and Rowing

I'm currently about 155pounds/70kilos, 5'10-11 and I pull a 6:46.0 2k. I am going to be racing heavyweight from now on and i want to get my time into the low 6:30s. I know thats going to take a lot of training and I have decided i should gain some muscle/weight over the summer so i've got some more ...
