Re: Crazy new 2k erg strategy - what do you think? Share yours.

Sorry, but positive splits win the day. Here's what's wrong with the simplistic "flat pacing is best" rationale: Everyone focuses on the losses *in the boat*/*on the erg*, but totally forget the losses *inside the body*, which are as great or greater than those external losses. (Ask any electrical e...

Re: The power of positive splitting

My best results have a dispersion even greater than this. Blast off in the first 500m at PR 500m pace + ~5 secs. 2nd 500m ~5 secs slower than first 500m. 2nd 1000m ~10 secs slower than first 1000m. Final 250m: hold on for dear life! jackarabit » November 18th, 2015, 8:00 pm How about this one? Clock...

Optimum split pacing ?

I've been working on mathematical models for optimum split pacing for the past 12 years or so, but I'd be interested in any published and/or internet-available resources which talk about such things.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Web page for constructing RowPro .row files

I was thinking of developing a javascript web page that would generate .row files to row against using RowPro. Would anyone here find this useful? I've been using such a non-javascript program myself for almost as long as I've had RowPro, and find it essential for producing workout rows. For example...

September 5km time trial

This is a little late, due to a 48hr flu last weekend. 10/5/06 164.0# 18:51.6. Max HR approx 162 -- well down from usual 172 or so. Clearly, the effects of the flu are apparent. Fabulous result for Dennis -- his 183HR redline is amazing! My training will be screwed up for Oct, as I'm moving from one...

August 5km Trial

I'm in total awe of Dennis's 17:53.6 @ 7600' !! At weight, to boot. A little tardy for August, but 5k 18:32.0 @ 169# today I'm still doing long runs for a Nov 5 NYC marathon attempt, so I haven't been erging much. I'm going to try a little high altitude training myself on Monday in the Mt Baldy run2...

Re: Introductions

Hi, I'm Henry Baker, of Encino (part of Los Angeles), California. I'm 58 (almost 59), and have been rowing since 1965, although with a hiatus from about 1976 to about 1996 which added 30 lbs. I'm (supposed to be) a lightweight, but one who's always had trouble making weight! I've been doing a lot of...
