I hate to tell you Charles, but I find that my times actually improved for the short sprint trails if I do about 5000 metres with spurts of 10 to 15 really hard pulls (ie max effort) at 30 to 35 strokes per minute rate every 1000 metres, finishing of with 15 max effort pulls at race pace. I then res...

I will try to get in at least one more attempt this month; I will attempt to gut it out and go mainly anaerobic for most of the time. I am probably too conservative at the start and need to go pretty much flat out. Is this how you approach the shorter sprint challenges? I am still impressed with an ...

It certainly has been quiet (and I haven't heard from Troy).

Dave you really put in a great effort this month? Are you going to get under the 2 minute mark?

Trevor :

Two metres, eh! I may have that in me, although it will have to be an exceptional day and effort. I hope to have a crack at it this next weekend, if not then it will be unlikely to get done. Anyway, good effort Dan. I like these little internal challenges.

We will let you guys have two oars, after all we want this to be a fair competition. Just cut off the blades. . I think this is eminently fair to equalize the height, strength, age and fitness advantages you have.

Threatened? Au contraire! It's more like I'm setting myself a lofty goal

Maybe we should set a really lofty goal and try to beat Troy and Dave. Would they let us row as a double? Probably the only way I could even come close :D

Now that Kirk has threatened to exceed my time I may have to stop working so many hours at my paying job and get back on the erg  . The last three weeks have been a disaster for me; what with the flu and too many emergencies/prolonged procedures :( . I was hoping to average 200 k per month un...

I think it would be great to see each contributors individual effort/contribution. I sort of lost track; who was the closest in quessing our finish date?

Just got an email from Team Canada. Should we join them en masse? Seems we can be members of both teams

I might take a crack at the CTC this weekend, like the rest of us I seem to be focusing more on distance than speed. Also On January 2 the rower at the gym was occupied at noon so I couldn't use it. I decided to do squats which turned out to be a real mistake as my quadriceps, gluteals and hamstring...

Dave; I will try your suggestion, probably this weekend. If I expire this Saturday then I will have one last crack at it the next weekend. My usual tactic has been to start slower than the overall average pace, in this case 1:57 to start, then do little sprints a the one quarter, half and three quar...

I may have to change my tactics on pushing myself . Up until now I have always waited for the last minute then went flat out while counting the last 34 or so strokes with my eyes closed and just concentrated on maximum force and speed. This time I finished the count (I decided to start the sprint at...

Oh yeah, amazing time Brian. As I went past 17.09 I was looking at the remaining distance to go and marvelling at your speed.
