Sorry to bump up an old post...my back pain adventure ended up as a microdiscetomy at L5/S1 last December. With the help of PT I've recovered very well, and I have a new exercise habit to follow for the rest of my life. I gave up rowing on the advice of my doctors, and sold my erg, but I really miss...

I've completed a holiday challenge for the past 4 years, but this will be my first year to miss it. A back injury has sidelined my rowing, and it's at this time of year I really miss it. I love the way I'd count up my meters until I hit 200K. Last year I was over 50K short of the goal when Dec 24th ...

Selling a Model C - St. Louis Mo.

I'm trying to sell a Concept 2 Model C erg. It has 7906K on the permanent odometer, but it's in good condition. I've added the heart rate adapter for the PM2, the model D handle, a C-Breeze and a cover to keep the kids off it. I'm asking $350 for it, but I'm not sure if that's what an older machine ...

That doesn't sound like swimming to me, but I still might enjoy the ice climbing. The other option doesn't appeal to me at all. B)

Will someone come up with a "V-Breeze" to go along with this? What about jacking, is it legal. Can you swim downhill or uphill for added variety?

I'm not much of a swimmer, but even I could tell the technique used in their ads was pretty bad.

I love doing cryptograms...but in English for me please. My wife doesn't get how I work them, but there are a few tricks I've learned along the way.

Pontus5, That is what I had a ruptured disc. There were no MRIs at that time so they took a myelogram which gave me the worst headache I ever had. When my problem first hit I moved wrong and felt like a sword went down the back of my right leg. The next thing I remember is my wife trying to wake me...

I've been thinking about this question for the past few months. I have a prolasped disc in my back at L5. I'm having surgery to fix it on 12 Dec. If all goes well I can resume my normal activities (running and rowing) after around 12 weeks. I've been laid up with this since May, and I wouldn't like...

I thought I'd post an update to my medical condition. After an X-Ray and MRI it turns out that my L5 disc has damage. It's protruding out and pinching off the nerve root that goes to my right leg. There's no pain at the disc site at all, but certain activities will cause pain in the leg. By the size...

I have an update on my alleged piriformis syndrome problem. I spent most of the weekend laying on my left side with a pillow between my legs. Any other position caused a great deal of pain. I went to sick call Monday mornining (yes, I'm in the military), and got some good drugs and a referral to the...

JB, I'll try that stretch and see if it helps. I tried doing a similiar stretch using a rope, where I'd loop the rope around the foot of my bad leg, and then pull over my good leg. The key word here is "tried"...it hurt like *&^$! My doctor showed me some additional stretches, which provide some rel...

Piriformis Problem

I've been diagnosed with Piriformis Syndrome, and I'm looking to see if any rowers have advice to pass on for dealing with this. My piriformis muscle is pinching the sciatic nerve in my right leg, which causes pain to radiate down the back of my leg to my calf. My foot also tingles while standing or...

Can you give the Nonathlon site address? I was registered under a different name, but didn't post that much (concentrated on running instead of rowing), and I had a computer crash. I'd like to enter again this year, and hopefully participate more.
