Model C, PM2 and heartrate sensor

Hi there, Until recently I used a Suunto HR belt with my PM2 and a C2 sensor pod, both about 15 years old. No problems there. Now I upgraded to a new Polar with the Wearlink, bought at Concept2. And snce using that the readings on the PM2 are way out. They are about 20 to 30 too high when compared t...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Did I mention that I jumped to 7597 meters on the 30 minutes? Chuffed to bits I am!

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Oh well, if you insist..... I bettered myself on the 60 minutes. I got 14.546 meters, was 14.163 a month or two ago. You guys are all pulling 15-16 k, but I am very happy with this! About four months ago I started up erging again, about 2 hours per week in total. I am really enjoying the experience!...

Anyone using ERG: 75 workouts for athletes?

I am looking for new training material and saw the Urban Erg website. The book ERG: 75 workouts for athletes looks good, but is a bit expensive (when ordering from Holland).

Anyone using it and wanting to share their experiences?

Re: SPM

Thanks guys (no ladies I believe), It's comforting, I don't seem to be doing much wrong. I will try slightly higher SPM in the intervals. The same speed at higher SPM is very difficult for me. Higher SPM leads to higher speed, which means that my fitness seems to dictate SPM. I will take all your co...

Re: SPM

Thank you for the swift replies! In answer to your questions: I use the same damper setting for all my sessions. And I have my own (good old) erg, so it's a constant drag factor. I am 6'3, not very tall. And my actual SPM is about 17-18 for the long pieces and 21-22 for the intervals. Looking at the...

SPM

I feel I should train at higher SPM, but find this very difficult. I am not unhappy with my training and the resulting progress. My aim is general fitness, to achieve that I run and row. Rowing consists of three sessions a week: - 60 minutes, +/- 14 k - 30 minutes, +/- 7.2 k - 30 minutes interval (3...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Oops, I did it again :-).

Yesterday started out for a strong but relaxed 60 minutes and ended up adding 100 meters to my PB.... 14.163 meters now. It's tempting to think about 15 k, but I will have to do more then two sessions a week to get there (if ever).

Still, happy oldie here!

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

I promised myself I would attempt a 2km under 7 minutes "before the end of the year". Well, today is 2011 but I just didn't have time during the holidays. Cross country skiing, speed skating ... :-) This evenng I managed a 6:59.9 (1:44.1, 1:45.0, 1:45.5, 1:45.3). I rowed the first 1500 in 29spm, th...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Just a little PR: I broke 14k in 60 minutes yesterday. I have been back on the old erg for about two to three hours weekly the last two months, progressing from surviving 15 minutes to enjoying 60 minutes. Nothing very special, just steady state and some 10 minute intervals. My main focus is on runn...

So now two weeks have gone by, and I have used them reasonably well. The training has found a place in our family’s schedule. And… it’s fun and the worst fatigue has faded away to normal proportions. My training routine consist of these building blocks: • 60 minutes strong; • 4 * 10 minutes to 3 * 1...

Cles,

Thank you to all!. Considering your advice, maybe I have become addicted to low SPM. I am biggish (6 ft2) and strongish, and my old rowing technique helps me to get a bit of power in at low SPM. Higher SPM intimidates me, but it's time to take up the challenge. I will practice higher SPM on t...
