I have begun to integrate lifting into my rowing program as well. I only lift light weights (5-8lbs right now) and do 12 repetitions. I do my lifting during my rest time. Say I am doing 3 X 10' @ 20-23spm with 3' rest in between...I would do my first 10' piece then pick up the weights and do bicep c...

Thank you for all the tips and help. I am consistently keeping my spm at ~20spm and my intensity at ~ 2:20-2:27/500 which keeps my heart rate at 150 (my range for the UT2 band is 123 bpm - 153bpm). I am trying very hard to concentrate on quality protein and proper carbohydrates but I have a sweet to...

Training band and heart rate...

Hello all, I downloaded a 24 week weight loss rowing program from the UK training site. 4-5 days a week. I should be at my goal weight by mid-December, yippy! I have about an hour for "me" time, thus, I row :D . Anyway, it says for training in the UT2 band, you should row at 18-20spm and be able to ...

Maria, Your stroke shouldn't change too much as you vary the rate (spm). Jump off the foot stretcher, open your back, quick finish, then hands away. If you want to drop the spm, slow down after your hands are past your knees. Slow slow slow slide to the catch (beginning of the stroke) then jump off...

Question about intensity vs. spm...

Okay, I see that this has been covered else where, but I am new and need to revisit this question. I did a work out today that was very enjoyable. BUT, I was supposed to keep my spm at 26, vary my intensity and beat my 500 split pace each time. Okay... first off, staying at 26spm and keeping a quick...

As a part 2 of the first reply, I think that being short, well having short legs, makes it harder to row at a lower spm. But there is power in these short legs :D , so I just keep on gettin' it!

Our coach had us train at a 10 a lot to emphasize those low recoveries. At 10???????????? OMG, I could never go that slow, unless I moved the damper to 10! I am proud if I can drive hard and return slowly enough to do 16spm. One thing I am proud if is that I am doing MUCH better at keeping a correc...

I like the rowing without the shoe straps suggestion. I will try that today.

It's kinda boring at 21spm but I understand the reasoning behind doing it. Like I said, I am a newbie and enjoy all the training suggestions.

Thanks again and I will keep you all posted  .

Thanks guys. I did a workout today and continued with a hard drive but an exaggerated, slow return. I was able to keep the strokes between 18 and 22 spm. I felt like a weirdo, but I think if I practice it over time I will be able to master it and use it in long rows. Another thing I have learned is ...

Help, I can't row slowly...

Hello all, I need some help. I am just starting back into rowing. I am using the 5 day rowing suggestions from the website to get back into it, then will embark on the 24 rows to spice things up a bit. My problem is, I find it nearly impossible to row at 20spm. I try and try to press slowly but gene...

Dragone, I am going to try the 24 workouts. I do much better with a plan then figuring things out for myself. I will let you know how they work for weight loss. I have already lost 15 pounds with weight watchers points plan and walking. I know that adding the C2 workouts will really help. I want to ...

Those are pretty Ping. I row with cheap walking shoes from Wal-Mart or barefoot (because I just have to row and I am too lazy to go upstairs and get my sneakers!). Of course, I am new to rowing (having lapsed for 3 year), but I have small feet for a HWT so adjusting the foot thingy is hard when I go...

Hey how do you get the little tickers at the end of your signatures? I want one of those.

Had a great night sleep and I am not sore. Can't wait to get on the C2 for work out #2. I feel thinner already! LOL

Just finished my first workout...

Well, my C2 arrived last Tuesday and we only JUST had the time to put it together! I did my first row and it feels so good to be back on the C2. It was well worth the wait!

Boy is it hard to keep to 22spm when you are so excited to row...but I did it.

Well, more tomorrow! :D

So much fun meeting new people! I know about the muscle vs. inches vs. weight loss. I was a competitive swimmer in my younger days and muscle does weigh more than fat and makes you look so much better! I won't get discouraged. I will be so happy to be getting healthier and stronger, I can't weight :...
