I rowed lightweight in college and my junior year was when C2 introduced the Model C (or, at least when it made its way to our boathouse). In the winter, we used to use the "heavy" setting on the Model B every Friday for an 18/20/22/24 (4/3/2/1) 30' ladder followed by a 24/26/28/30 (4/3/2/1) 30' lad...

Georgetown lightweights in the early-mid-90s had a few sub 6:30s (around 6:25-6:29) and a few in the low to mid 6:30s in the first 8; there was also a 5:57 (he went on to row in the Olympics). The 2v had guys from 6:31 to 7:05. The 3v were a bit higher.

-Jamie

Today: I tried a "Wolverine" L4 176 & 180 for 40.'

I did (at most!) 2-3 pieces at 16spm in my entire college and law school career. Yikes! That was brutal. I was going to quit, but then I thought, "well, if Hennie can do 10x2k the night before BIRC, then I guess I can finish my 40 minute ...

Dougie: I've gone back and looked at a bunch of your posts: You're in phenomenal shape. I've been rowing lightweight for about 15 or 16 years and can say with confidence that you will do great at IRC.

The big difference between lightweight and openweight rowing is the speed of the catch....
