Re: Apple Watch Heart Rate
I have an Apple watch and have no problem coordinating the HR(from my Polar chest strap)with my Activity app on the Apple Watch. In fact, it is my de facto rowing log book(I also save my workouts to my PM5 and then occasionally upload the data to the On Line Log Book). Works great for me, although I...

Re: Steady State??
I am faaaaaar from an expert on this subject, but I will say that 'properly performed' high intensity strength training produces excellent cardio results. I am not talking about 1-2 hour marathon strength training sessions, but those short(15-20 minutes)very intense and infrequent training sessions....

Re: Rowing to lose weight
Paulo: Congratulations on your weight loss. In 8 months you have lost about 7 pounds, wonderful, really. However at the rate of 1 lb. per month a person with significant weight to lose(let's say for the sake of argument 50 lbs.)would need 4 years of solid rowing to do so. A reasonable diet can be fo...

Re: Is there a correlation between sleep requirements & fitn
You know, consistent exercise provides me with better sleep and I fall asleep faster too. I imagine that there are a few people out there who get different results, but this is pretty typical. What I have learned is that not getting enough rest contributes to weight gain and/or makes losing weight h...

Re: Rowing to lose weight
I would like to add that rowing to lose weight is going to be very hard. Simply for the fact that rowing(or almost any aerobic exercise for that matter)actually burns few calories. As an example, I have been rowing approximately 30 minutes at a time for several months now. My Apple watch keeps track...

Re: Cancer Recovery
I want to thank those who replied or commented here. My experience with cancer has been, quite surprisingly, not so bad. Several years ago I'd had an unusual type of cancer(carcinoid tumor)which was discovered(and removed)during a laparascopic appendectomy. It required really nothing other than the ...

Cancer Recovery
Bought my Concept 2 Model D about 18 months ago, enjoyed it but struggled with consistency for the first 6 months or so. Fast forward to Fall 2015 and a prostate cancer diagnosis. My choice of treatment was robotic prostatectomy, which I underwent in November. The procedure itself was not difficult ...

Re: Geezer not a wheezer...
Finally back to the Forum. I'd been out of state for about a week, and unable to get to any C2 rower. In addition, my internet was acting up,.so when I did get a few workouts in at home I was not able to sync them up with my I-Phone and the Training log online. Nevertheless, am currently back into t...

Re: Geezer not a wheezer...
Another workout, another day of learning the machine and about myself I guess. 25 minutes(5 of that warmup, I cooled down by walking afterwards), 3686 meters, 22 SPM, 127 HR, 439 cals/hr, 40 watts. Not sure about DF as I am still learning the PM5 and how to toggle through the various options. A litt...

Re: Geezer not a wheezer...
Thanks to both of you. I did lose another 1.5 lbs this week, am on track. FWIW, long ago I did not have this serious sugar addiction(plus caffeine), and it was easy to maintain my 132 lb frame. Gradually, as I aged, I lost muscle and addeed fat. Now, looking back, I see that I failed to do resistanc...

Re: Geezer not a wheezer...
Thanks Ed for the advice. I have learned, the hard way, that simple carbs are my Waterloo. That innocent single Girl Scout cookie, or mini-Snickers bar is the lead in to overeating. In fact, I had to admit to myself that I am quite addicted to sugar. If you put 4 oz turkey, 1 cup mashed potatoes and...

Re: Geezer not a wheezer...
Thanks DJ, and yes I am aware of the value of strength training. As useful as the C2 may be, it is not going to supplant resistance training. I'd backed off of my strength workouts (actually all of my workouts)the last 6 months or so. Now that I feel I have started to acclimate well to the C2, it is...

Re: PM5 cradle
I am new to the using the C2, but I have enjoyed watching Netflix on my KIndle Fire. What I did was to take a metal framed book holder that I purchased at "5 Below"(---some have used it as a decorative plate holder too) and applied a few strips of tape to the bar that holds the PM5. It actually fits...

Re: Geezer not a wheezer...
Last night was a good workout. I was able to increase SPM as well as distance. Not that it is "easy" but settling into a rythm is becoming easier and I am finding it fun to do 30 second bursts of speed. The only limitation seems to be my lower back, as I am careful to not overdo it. I think that I w...

Re: Geezer not a wheezer...
Another workout, feeling good. I have yet to post it to the log book because my computer froze up on me Saturday morning. I'll do another moderate session this evening and will post both. I have to admit that the soreness that I experience after walking for an equal length of time on my treadmill is...
