Re: Glory Lightweight Advice

The thing is - I believe I have a shot at a lwt 06:50 in 3 years and I really want a BIRC medal. I know a hwt 06:50 has zero chance so my only option is the lwt route. I want to get to and stay at weight for a good year or more beforehand so I need to act now. If you think you have a shot at a meda...

Re: Glory Lightweight Advice

My current weight hovers around 185. A couple of seasons ago I dieted down to be a lightweight. Like you, I had been under 165 when young but that was a long time ago. I suspect that I am slightly smaller and slightly lighter than you. It took strict dieting, nothing mysterious. But getting to 165 a...

Re: Rowpro for Mac

There is no native version of RP for mac. So you would have to use windows, either in bootcamp or parallels 4, 5, or 6. I have used RP in bootcamp (on an intel mac) and it worked just fine.

Re: Advice wanted for my 2K PB - Intervals ?

I don't have any particular insight about training for racing, since I don't do it all that well or often, but I find hard middle distances to be equally important as working on speed through intervals. So for a 2k, that means in the 5k range. The benefit of rowing the middle distances hard is that ...

Nice rowing Carl, I didn't realize what you were doing this month when I joined the row. Impressive.

Re: Mounting IPAD to Erg

You really should think about trying rowpro instead, but that would require a pc. People have created some stands for monitors for RP. Jef here has maybe the nicest setup: http://concept2.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=17663 I built a shelf along my wall and just have the display on that. I do hav...

When you say "the system kicked you out" 10 minutes in to your row, what does that mean? That sounds like a RP problem, and sounds like the type of problem RP could have with a graphics card.

Do you have a used C2, so that your PM3 is several years old? When the PM3 first came out, there was a known defect with the USB port, that resulted in the port coming loose and/or getting pushed up inside the PM. C2 was willing to replace those back then. This was years ago, 2005 or so. My guess is...

I tend to think the seat hurts most everyone a little bit, but it shouldn't really be a major factor until you start rowing "long" (30 min for a beginner; an hour + for the experienced). We get those posts periodically here, but never that I can remember someone complaining about rowing only a few m...

If you have the dedicated graphics card Radeon HD 4570 (which at a glance was listed in the specs for that Acer), you should certainly be good to go with full graphics and moving water. If you haven't updated the graphics card driver, you really should do that, since that is most likely the solution...

Pete at digital rowing will hopefully help. But, do you know what kind of graphics card you have? Look that up, then search for the drivers for that, and update to the latest version. Many brand new computers come with out of date drivers. As Citroen says, you need to install Direct X 9. I don't thi...

Ranger was never going to row at the crash-bs this year or any future year. Let's get real. The UK forum threads have been deleted, but from vague memory, I think we were first promised a picture of a timed piece in something like Sept 2005, so this has been going on for close to five years and five...

If you can't feel the difference between 4 and 10, just humor us and row at 3 from now on (or check the drag as noted above). Your description of what you feel like sure sounds like you are underusing your legs and over pulling with the arms. It would really help you if you sorted your technique out...

As Bob notes, the bum shoving is very noticeable. As a firm adherent to strapless rowing, I don't know if strapless will help with that (since I think it focuses on the finish, not the catch). But everything is interrelated. Bum shoving is described as a problem with "engagement". You want your body...

Awesome row Bob. Is this an official WR, or is there some reason it won't be honored?
