Last year (my first year to erging) I was hooked and rowed 5-6 days a week for about an hour a day. I pushed my workouts hard and often did 10K plus warm up and warm down.

After a 5 month layoff due to back pain I am back at it but restrict my workouts to 3 days a week and about 40 minut...

Hi All,

Just a follow up note; I set a PB today and the warmup I used was a 5K row with sprints evey 500m starting after 2000m. That was a longer warmup than I've ever done and still I never quite felt ready.

Oh yeah, I was hurtin after.

Cheers,
Jazz
Hey Kudos, it is interesting that you do such a long warmup because I find that after rowing about 35 minutes when doing 10 pieces, my kick for the last few minutes always feels good. I can go as hard as I can for the last 3 minutes or so and when I end I feel tired as heck but my chest is not b...
Hi again,

After my last reply I thought, is 24 seconds a normal difference for doubling my 1K time verses my 2K PB time and what is the difference of some of the better rowers on the rankings. I found that generally the difference for those guys is under 15 seconds. For top 50yo ltw this...

Been at it 6 months and getting PBs every week at one distance or another.
This week went for my 1000 PB and beat it by 4 seconds - 3:16.1.

Seems on the longer races ( 30 min, 60 min, 10K) my mental toughness that day will determine if I get a PB or not.

Cheers

I'm trying to fine tune my warmup on 2K test days. I'm new to erging June 04 but would like to enter races when my times get a little better.

Question: What warmup do you do before a 2K test or race?

If I don't warm up enough I suffer greatly during and after.
In reply to Gisbornes comment about rowing 1:59 at gym and 2:20 at home. That is quite the difference. I'm sure the workout at the gym gets your heart rate much higher.
The difference with me is that 1:52 at the gym seems like 1:57ish at home. I really wouldn't care cause it is a good workou...

Now that I think about the % thing I feel a little dumb because that makes sense what you said. I have only done one 10K time trial at not 100% so I'm not worried about beating that one. I guess people have probably attempted 2K bests more often so it becomes increasingly harder to beat PBs at that ...

Hi all,

I love to use the C2 rankings as a motivator for better times in my workouts. My goal is to end the year ranked in the top 10 % for my age and weight in as many distances as possible. But I have noticed that a lot of the heavy hitters from last year are not yet entered onto the C2 ran...

1000m warmup, then harder 30 min row as main workout piece, then warmdown is my standard. Lately I have changed the 30 min row to the 10K.

Cheers,
Jazz

Hi all, I just bought a new model D recently and it seems harder than the rower I have been using for the last several months at the gym. For example I row 1:52 rate for 30 mins at the gym on a Model C, but at home 1:56 feels just as hard. I use the damper on 3 on both models.
Has anyone else ex...
