Training

After my first few months I started with something fairly similar. My fingers would just ache, making gripping difficult. What I found worked beautifully was to stop focusing so much on pulling with my arms/hands and began to focus more on contracting the lats and following this contraction with a p...

Thanks Tom. I found it. I printed it. And as soon as I'm done with this note I'll begin the process of devouring it. Thanks again.

Mark

Training

As you begin your drive, do you give an all-out explosion with the legs and then puul through with arms and legs at the end? Is the leg drive something less than an all-out effort? Man, I think I need a coach!

Ranger,
I've read your response and I'm trying to understand but having a tough time. What might I be doing wrong if at the end of my drive I have to fight to keep my feet planted firmly on the plates. It seems that momentume naturally lifts them right off and I need to fight very hard to keep th...

I have been rowing strapless for 3 days now, 3 workouts. I am working at exploding through at the drive. The question I have is, how do you keep your feet on the boards at the end of the drive? Is a bit of lift off ok? If so, it would seem that this is a great deal of wasted energy, perhaps even mor...

Training

Thanks to all. I checked out the archive section and I see that I'm not alone. While, I will try some modifying, I also wonder if it might just be tight hamstrings coupled with my relative newness on the erg. Thanks again.

Training

I've been training on the erg for about 3 mos. now. Typically, after about 5000 m my butt and hamstrings begin to numb. I have decreased my spm to about 26 and this helps somewhat (more rest on the recovery). However, the burning generally forces me off the erg for 1-2 mins. Any thoughts? I'm 6'4", ...
