Thanks for the back story, Greg!

I've been wondering what the contestants could see on the monitor. Did they get to see a display on the monitor, or was their only feedback from the lights?

Hmm, I'll vote for the error being that she says that the legs and arms finish at the same time. On that stroke hers do, but on most of her pulls the legs finish first. I agree with those who say there is too much layback at the finish. First of all, who wants to hit their breasts with the handle. O...

My mother had a mastectomy. I don't remember if she had any lymph nodes removed - this was in 1985. She wasn't an erger at the time, but has taken it up the last few years. I don't think she's had any issues with erging related to the mastectomy. She rows with a We Can Row group http://www.rowasone....

OK, I was afraid you'd ask that. Let me try to explain. Sit as straight as possible. Your back should hang down from the top of your head. (You don't want to arch your back erging, but you may want to try during this exercise so that you can find the point where your back is straight.) Using your ab...

Kids can definitely erg. My littlest actually has the most meters of the 3 - he has over 90K lifetime and has enjoyed collecting the childrens' meter club pins. You can file for those on the same form that you file for your own million meter club. Full info is here: http://www.concept2.com/us/motiva...

I saw a physical therapist for back pain a few years ago and was very pleased. The cause was different - in my case it was insult to the abdominals because of a c-section - but it was great to be almost pain free after almost 10 yrs of intermittent aches. My mother also was cured of her back pain af...

A friend of mine recommends putting baby socks on the handle to solve the sweat problem. I have to agree - it does the job nicely.

Now to find my missing motivation... :?

Many of us row for the same reason. C2 has an item about erging and osteoporosis here: http://www.concept2.com/us/motivation/c ... orosis.asp

Hope that helps.

Well, I'm feeling better, but I keep finding excuses not to get back on the erg. Sigh... Susan - water aerobics is great exercise. Carol - you can enjoy waffles now and then if you're careful. Try them with a little jam or a dusting of powdered sugar instead of loaded w/butter and maple syrup. Sound...

Wrist pain seems to be a more common complaint than hand pain, but I would try some of the same things: - make sure she's not gripping the handle too tightly. Use a light, "C" shaped grip. - make sure that there's no wrist flip at the end of the stroke. The wrists remain straight throughout. Hope th...

I'd say that you want to get most of the extra power from your legs.

February Resolutions

Well, how did everyone do with their January resolutions? Are you going to change your plan for February, or continue with January plans? I ended up taking a week off in late January. The first part of the week I was under the weather, and the second half was more lazy. As a result, I didn't make 10...

I'll agree w/Nosmo - 20-24 is probably a good target range to start with. I do a higher spm for a sprint, but in the 22 - 25 range for "steady state."

Obviously, form is the most important thing to teach them. Then they will fall into their own rhythm.
