I'm Back!!!!!! To running that is. Four Months of not running a step and today was my first run back. Not much of a run but felt good. Rowing these last 4 months has really kept my cardio intact. Only ran three miles but wanted to ease back in slowly.

Question for you that have been runni...

Dangerous Dave,

Do you start out at the same Pace as them but die off as you get further into the piece or are you starting and maintaining at a slower pace than your crew mates. Either way, sounds like you may be comparable to your team mates in strength but lack in endurance.
<br ...

Tom,

Congratulations on that 1hr PR! I agree, 5K's are fun. I seem to be able to pace myself better than on 2K's so as someone suggested I think I'll stick with those for a while before another honest effort on a 2K. Blowing up on 2 of three attempts has made me a little gun shy.
<br...

19:22.8 today for 5K. Started out at last PB pace but found myself bumping ahead slightly so went with it. Tried to let it rip the last 500m but not much left in the tank. God is that painful! Never hurt that much in a 5K road race before.

Beast,

I have only been rowing since December. I started by wearing Running Shoes (Adidas Supernova) and wore them for about a month. I then tried an old pair of New Balance Racing Flats not sure of the model and while the Adidas were fine, the racing flats were more comfortable (more fle...

Turbocog,

That is a coincidence. Sounds like we both had a sufferfest today. Oh Well chalk it up to experience.

I can say without a doubt that I have never felt so much physical pain/distress as I have in both attempts that I blew up in. I have never felt that in any running ra...

Wanted to do a 2000M time trial but guess the evaluation of my improvement since the last attempt (7:31) was a bit ambitous. Was averaging 1:49/500 and completely ran out of gas with 600M to go so turned the session into intervals 1400M at 1:49/500 800M at 1:47 500M at 1:41 and 2X 100M at 18, 17.4 (...

All, I have been experiencing a little wrist pain on the outside of the left wrist and am wondering if it has to do with my elbow position at the finish. I have already made an adjustment in how high I bring the handle from my sternum down to the bottom of rib cage to keep my wrist flat. I have noti...

I believe that 2K +20 refers to 2K pace plus 20 seconds. Ex. If 2K pace was 1:40 (I wish) then 2K + 20 = 2:00 per 500M

First Run in three months and it was great! OK so it was only three miles but I was amazed at how good I felt, no doubt because of the rowing I started two months ago. Cardio wise, I felt like I could run forever but my legs were the limiting factor. Who would have thought that 3 miles could leave m...
