Broke 1,000,000 meters for the JVTC on the morning of day 24 with a 15K row. Great job Brian! My own JVTC contributions were a bit low for the last few days when I was fiddling around with a couple of sprint time trials (500m and 1K) and a 2K race. I had intended to do a 5K TT (for the nonathlon, a...

Knocked out my fourth million meters for the season- the first million took 105 days, the second million took 71 days, and the third million took 46 days- this last one took 37 days- at this rate I'll be rowing 1mil per day pretty soon... or not. :P

My short-term goal is to hit 1,000,000m in the January Virtual Team Challenge. Almost 24 marathons in 31 days. Wow! That's a real chore! How far along are you? Nevermind - I think that I spotted you on the list in 6th place and almost half way there already. Good Going! Bob S. Thanks. B) My biggest...

I'm a weightlifting coach and I have absolutely no use for a heart rate monitor while weightlifting. None. I agree-after twenty-five years of lifting, I've never seen anybody worth a damn in the gym who was concerned about his heart-rate while hitting the weights (unless maybe it was somebody who t...

I don't see how it would really do you any good- lifting weights is completely anaerobic unless you're doing dozens of reps, and heart-rate doesn't really enter into it (unless you have some physical problem you need to monitor).

Link for the 2010 Virtual Challenge Standings?

Does anyone have the link to the standings page by any chance? I can't find it on the challenge page.

I haven't used any of Xeno's CDs, but RowPro on a big monitor with some great music playing generally has me rowing faster times than when I don't use it (I have over 800 rows logged through RowPro). The new version is also much more aesthetically pleasing (it has "live water" which looks more real ...

Did a 12K this morning at 6am, another 12K at noon, and 6K at 4:30pm (all paced at ~2:10)- broke last year's 366-day (leap year  ) total (2,097,000m) on day 182. :D

It's a couple of bolts and then attaching the separate components- no big deal (add 15 minutes to the total time if, like me, you have a golden retriever as an assistant).

As long as your injury doesn't stop you and your schedule will allow you to put in the time, 200K isn't much in 31 days- last year was my first year on the erg- my biggest month prior to the January team challenge was 228K, and I managed 530K for the team challenge (I love having the instant info of...

In response to the OP, my personal experience with serious lifting/rowing from the last six months (I'm 43, 6'2", 187lbs and very lean with a waist just under 31"): I have a model 'D' in my home and do a before-breakfast 12K pretty much every morning (might take one or two mornings off per month) at...
