By the way, if you really want a challenge, there is a race run from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney. It is about 50-75mi I think, and the idea is to go from the lowest spot in the continental U.S. to the highest. That's from -36ft (below sea level) to 14,494ft above. Try the Pasadena Athletic Club. They have a couple of ergs that look up at the San Gabriel Mountains for motivation. Its a great club in all other regards as well.
