Re: Modifying Beginner Pete Plan to minimize injury risk
During the rest periods on the intervals, I'm thinking that a good way to maximize rest for the low back would be to lay on the floor with knees bent and low back flat against the ground. Does anyone do this on their rest periods, or mostly do you just stand or walk around? Basically I'd like to us...

Re: Do You Train In Front Of A Mirror??
I learned to row (on an erg, that is) at Xeno Muller's Iron Oarsman (his now closed indoor rowing studio in Costa Mesa, CA). Row of ergs sitting in front of a mirror. Xeno would sit on the middle erg as he conducted workouts, so you could watch and try to model your stroke on his. Very helpful. Alissa

Re: Bob Spenger
I'm so sorry to hear this news. I first met Bob at Xeno Muller's rowing studio, the Iron Oarsman. Later, we each bought a model D at the Beach Sprints and Bob helped me figure out how to get mine into my car. While I haven't seen him in person in years, it was a joy to know that I could talk with hi...

Re: Eating well and training hard but not loosing body fat
At age 16, you're still growing! You need to focus on fueling growth w/ adequate sleep, nutrition and exercise. At 5'9.5" already, you're a tall girl, and may well be getting taller. Which would only be good for rowing. At the same time, you need good nutrition to fuel your training. Twenty stone (...

I know Ed has a racing history in south Jersey and Boston and verified race results. Who else in this thread has these unquestionable credentials? Henry. Shawn. Remi. Also Glenn, I think. Possibly T.M.? Alissa? Anyone else? Carl I don't have to ask! No race-sourced verification that I can find. Who...

Re: Personal training logs
A section which allows "personal threads" where only the OP makes posts on each thread, with a "stickied" discussion thread at the top can work very well. At least I've seen it work well on other forums. It just takes a bit of time to get used to. Just wanted to note (to minimize the number of posts...
Re: Marathon
Brand new user here (Model D will be delivered tomorrow) and can't wait to get started! I am 56 years old, 290 pounds and tired of it. I have used the Concept 2 before at the gym and really enjoyed it, so I am excited to get going again! I have had several pieces of home gym equipment over the year...

I don't have the experience you're looking for, but since no one else has said anything, thought I'd point out the obvious. Keep the layback to a minimum. (To avoid doing a long series of sit-ups.)
My very best wishes to you!

Take a look at the Intro to Indoor Rowing thread, pasted at the top of the FAQ board. There's a lot of good information there, as well as some helpful links.

Re: Low back pain and concept2 rower (SkiErg better?)
Graham, Your suggestions on form are very different from the instruction I got from Xeno Muller when he had his rowing studio, The Iron Oarsman, open. It was a lovely way to learn, literally learning from matching form next to such a wonderful rower. But, obviously, quite different from what you're ...

Apple ad featuring three c2 ergs...what app is that?
Just saw this ad: https://youtu.be/BwdNSvCVk3k for the iWatch, which features three c2 ergs. I didn't know what app they were showing, but now think it is "Workout." Doesn't seem to have great reviews, but it does allow you to chose a Rower as your workout. However while I was looking, I came across...

Hi Gumpen! Do you have a coach? If not, finding someone with rowing experience who will sign on to coach you would be the first thing. If you don't know of anyone, maybe your university's athletic department could help you find someone? Or do you need a volunteer...if so, can you tell us where you a...

Re: Got me my own C2!
For now, even without a PM, I could continue with my stroke training (trying to have consistent timing) using the metronome app on my iPhone. If you end up using your metronome app, make sure the drive and the recovery are not the same length. The drive should be much shorter than the recovery! HTH...

Cureton Richard 09:50:00 5 53 Unaffiliated (USA) Lightweight Veteran Men (Age 65-69) L Did he actually show up and race this year? EDIT: No, no he did not. Classic Ranger. Wow! A blast from the past! Except for one post in '13, you have been off the boards for a long time. Actually, even mentioning...
