Hooking a laptop with RowPro up to a TV screen.
Cool! Is that hard to do? What do you need to do to hook a laptop up to a TV screen?badocter wrote:I connect the laptop to a 31" television that is on a table next to the erg.

Seems to be working for you very well
If it is boring you to death, or you find you are no longer losing weight, try something like the Pete Plan, or better yet, mix it up with a different type of exercise a few days a week: swimming, running, cycling, elliptical, stair climber etc. For me personally, I can only stand "machine" exercise...

Suunto v. Polar
I have a Suunto that syncs with my PM4 without the additional device. I also have a Polar with a watch I use for running and cycling. Other differences: You can change the battery on a Suunto but not on the Polar--you have to mail it back for servicing. If you go to gyms, Polars work automatically w...

Heart rate monitoring is very useful
Especially if you are new to exercising, learning what your max heart rate is so that you can determine ideal training zones can help you maximize the effectiveness of your workout. Having the built in, wireless HR reading in front of you without having to buy additional equipment is very convenient...

Great pics!
The winning photos are really amazing!
Makes sense to me
In general, but in no scientific way. As a relatively new regular rower, it seems like I gain most in times when I concentrate on the power I put into the push. Your legs have some pretty massive muscles, and since you spend a lot of your life using them (standing up, sitting down, walking, running,...

Two or three day a week rowing plan?
Now that we're getting some nicer days, I'm spending less time on the erg, and more time outside running. As the weather improves, my fitness activities tend to move outdoors. Biking and kayaking will soon be on the agenda, plus I just signed up for a yoga class. I'm not a big fan of indoor exercise...

Re: It will be slightly lower, but not significantly
I'm surprised that you can't hit MHR on the erg. Row at your 2km best pace + 5 seconds for as long as you can. You should see MHR in under an hour. It could be psychological. I have been running for years, but am still relatively new to regular rowing. Perhaps mentally I'm more prepared to hit my p...

It will be slightly lower, but not significantly
I can get my heart rate up to about 188 if I run up a steep hill at the end of a moderately long run. On the erg, I can get it up to about 179 if I sprint at the end of a 6 to 10k row. On the bike I can spin to exhaustion and not get my HR anywhere close to that--maybe in the 160s. Same with swimmin...

Lots of simple ones
But nothing that syncs with the Concept 2 online logbook that I am aware of.

It's not in color. I think RowPro has color animation.

Yes, and you are fooling yourself
If you manage to lose a couple of extra pounds by sweating it out, and not rehydrating, you don't look any better than you do when you are hydrated. You are still carrying around the same amount of fat. And you're likely to spend the next 24-48 hours rehydrating, and confronting the depressing reali...

Congratulations!
That's awesome! Keep it up! I joined a team "weight loss challenge" and lost 11 pounds in the first three weeks, but no pounds this week. Darn super bowl party! I'm not so good at starving myself, so I'm keeping it to 2200-2400 calories a day, and doing lots of aerobic exercise--rowing, running, swi...
