Hi, I have advanced arthritis of my right hip joint which have greatly reduced the flexibility of my hip. I've been rowing for almost 2 months now. Its been great. I think it has actually improved my flexibility. I would get a second opinion on rowing and your hip. You posted about not going past 90...

Thanks for the great advice. Slides are not an option due to our set up(not enough space). I'm going to make a video of my technique to see what I'm doing. What I think I'm doing and what's really happening can be two different things. I have very strong legs.Back in the day I could squat 500lbs for...

Thanks for the reply John. The reason for the arthritis is bad hips..and years of hockey, weight lifting, football etc. I've been very athletic all my life. I still Kitesurf, Motocross and workout as much as I can. The main reason I got the ERG was the challenging workout I can get with it even with t...

Thanks for the reply. I'm in Ontario Canada. I think I'll have to just live with the situation. My wife and daughter use the machine so any permanent mods are out of the question. I'll try a couple of towels on the seat which should raise me up a bit. The good side is that it forces me to row strapl...

Limited Flexibility
Hello, I just purchased a C model a couple weeks ago. I'm 48, 210 pounds. I have severe arthritis in my right hip which limits my flexibility when using the erg. I'm trying to be very conscious of my technique but I have to make some adjustments. I have to have my right foot lower on the foot bed to...

John, you are correct. The reason for the low numbers is the placement. I moved the erg to the center of my room and the numbers were 1-92, 5- 133 and 10- 208. I will have to use the erg in its corner placement due to space requirements, but like you said, the top drag # is higher than I'll use. Thanks...

Hi Dave- I'm curious about this. What elevation is the machine being used at? C2JonW I am using the the machine at sea level. The flywheel is near a corner in my exercise room. From what I've read that placement will not affect the model C's. I was wondering if it could be the monitor? I'm very hap...

Low Drag Numbers
Hello, I just purchased a use C model last week. I oiled the chain, checked the shock cords and cleaned the flywheel by removing the fan cage. The flywheel was not that dusty but I vacuumed it out anyway. The drag numbers seem to be low. 80 at 1, 115 at 5 and only 158 at 10. These readings are with a...
