Re: Forum Flyers

Thanks everyone! I had a fundraiser going on Facebook/Instagram that I closed yesterday (with 1400 euros raised in total). A few non-social-network-using relatives donated directly at https://don.ligue-cancer.net/octobrerose2021/~mon-don?_cv=1, but feel free to make a donation to the cancer research...

Re: Endurance erging - A place to discuss 42, 50, 100k upwards.

Thanks, everyone. Rescheduling wasn't really an option, so it was "24h + 50k" or nothing. While the late start and short days made for a rather "dark" 24 hours, one advantage of doing it in the fall was that I just had to turn the heat down to have a comfortable temperature indoors, with minimal swe...

Re: Changing emphasis - long v short

You can probably get relatively close to your 2k PB on "strict" marathon training, but bridging the last 5-10% will always require repeated effort at high intensity. And 5-10% in watts is the difference between 6:20 and 6:27-6:34, or between 6:30 and 6:37-6:44. In my experience, 4-6 months of focuse...

Re: Forum Flyers

Sorry to hear about the Covid, hope everyone in your household is in good health again.
Glad to hear you're back on the rower.

Ergdata, the C2 Logbook, and rest meters

I learned something new today: if you use Ergdata to upload interval workouts, the Logbook weekly/monthly/season totals (in "Season Summary") are NOT the sum of the distances displayed in "View Season". For a given workout, in "View Season", you will see the total meters and average pace for the act...

Re: RowPro 5.7 bugs (24h row)

To be clear it wasn't an online session, I just needed something plugged into the PM so it wouldn't shut down, in addition to saving the data (which it didn't). I wanted to keep my phone available for other uses and didn't have any other devices handy, so I had to use PC-compatible software. As fas ...

I just remembered Shimano makes (made?) SPD sandals, if you can find a pair ! :D Might be other brands out there.

Re: Clip or strap pedals allowed for online rankings?

Stiff and tight wins the race. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure there are several models of MTB/urban cycling SPD shoes that aren't particularly geared towards performance and therefore aren't that restrictive. As for weight, high end racing shoes will be light, comfy shoes will likely be heavier,...

Re: Calculate moving time only

Can you not simply programme a variable interval workout? Rest periods aren't counted in the overall average split.

RowPro 5.7 bugs (24h row)

Just a post to say that based on personal experience I would not recommend using RowPro when attempting a 24h row or similar endeavour. I downloaded and installed RP v5.7 this week-end to use for a 24h attempt. I set up a custom 24h row in RowPro, which seemed like the logical thing to do. The first...

Re: Endurance erging - A place to discuss 42, 50, 100k upwards.

Figure this is a good place to mention I did a 24h row this weekend (with a 50k warm-up; thanks, RowPro!). I'll spare you the full recap, and I don't think I have much to say that hasn't been said before, but if anyone has any questions I'll try to answer them. A few points: - Don't use RowPro. 24h ...

Re: Forum Flyers

A nice FTC team placing and team average indeed, well done everyone!

In other news, I'll be doing a 24h solo row this weekend. Apart from a little cash being rounded up to help fund cancer research, I'm starting to regret it already :D

Hi all,

If its Nov 6-7th I most likely won't have access to an erg, unfortunately (other than Sunday evening).

Re: Benchmark Times

I have a hunch that if someone could run a sub-3h marathon and bench 100kgx10, they could probably row a sub-6:30 2k without having touched an erg before. Much depends on your build and on your starting point for each goal, of course. Personally I would be happy if I managed to get back under 1:20 o...
