Re: Scull for Fun and Exercise
I bought a used Alden recreational single and have enjoyed it greatly. Not a speed demon but stable and a fun way to workout.

Re: First time rowing - realistic to rent a 2X for couple?
As others have said, you really need to learn to row before going out as novices. I bought a single and a double almost new, cheap, from people who thought they could just get in a scull and row.

Alden 18- Help!
Hello All! The Alden Ocean scull in my previous post is not working out. I have a line on an Alden 18 at a good price. I want something I can use on our local, somewhat rocky river and the option for 2 rowers is a nice feature. My club is 40 miles away and I plan to continue to learn sweep rowing the...

Alden Ocean Scull Questions
Hello all! Hope someone can help me... I am a novice rower, started this spring sweep rowing, lately more sculling as less people show up at the club. Still have only sculled the club "tub" a few times, so very much still learning. A friend offered me use of an old Alden ocean scull- 16 ft. with 7'6...

Just read "Assault on Lake Casitas" by Brad Lewis. Great story of his arduous journey culminating in a gold medal in the '84 Olympics. Available through Amazon. Also read "Rowing Against the Current:On Learning to Scull at Forty" by Barry Strauss. Also part of what motivated me take lessons to both ...

Welcome Dragonfly! Despite my moniker I am on the far side of 50, started erging in January, and bought a Model E a while back. Now over 600,000 meters on the erg, and been taking " Learn to Row " lessons for the past month. I think you will be impressed with the workout you can get erging. The logb...

Row Pro Software
As I anxiously await delivery of my Model E, I saw some info on RowPro software that can be downloaded for $99 or on CD for $119. Is this a worthwhile purchase? Is the "coaching" of value?
How easy is it to use and which way should I buy it (CD or download)?
Any input appreciated!

Going Strapless
Okay, I understand the rationale for erging strapless. I do it occasionally tho don't much like it. I end up pushing my heels down on the back of the stretchers to have something to pull on, which I imagine is frowned on. I usually erg at about 28 rating, strapless lucky to hit 20-22. With a more ex...
