Bill - My highest priority request would be for a way to query the Rankings by name. You might be worried about privacy issues with such a capability but I would say that, if you rank your times, by definition you make them accessible to the public. The ability to query by name would simply be a muc...

The river is finally unfrozen. Dang, it's great to be back on the water. This is completely off topic, but would you like to see my 13-year old grand-daugher Karina, who has started speed skating? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjkPKsTZhKM Byron Really fun to watch! Thank Byron. (Are you two trying...

... Surely you can't get a serious workout in a boat wearing all that stuff under those conditions. ... Disagree, Rockin. Just this morning got in 10 hard miles in a quad including 4 x 3' x 2' rest after three longer pieces from 3k to 5k. Granted it was only 43 degrees, water about the same and I w...

Re: Rowing Knee Injury?

Over the last few months I have been rowing quite a bit in preparation for the upcoming indoor events. Recently the back of my knee has begun hurting (opposite the knee cap). The area feels like there is a knot and is hard to loosen up. Has anyone else had this condition? Any suggestions? Andy Andy...

Hi Mike, I haven't tried the dry suit in a pool. The gasket on the NRS dry pants is very wide. The NRS plunge drytop has a wide gasket also, I'm guessing a small amount of water could seep in. I think the idea is not to have cold water circulating against you. If I'm working hard I'll build up some...

I also have an NRS Plunge Dry Top that I bought new at EBAY for about half price last year. http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/pro...

Hi Mark, ... I wear a lightweight dry pants and dry top ... Byron Byron - Tell us more about the dry top and pants. Make, model, etc. Most of the guys I row with in the winter use a 3mm neoprene "shorty" wet suit and I'm not convinced they afford all that much protection. A dry suit would be ideal ...

Hi Paul,

Cool close-up picture!

I was there - in your race - bow 28. We were a 60+ y/o boat competing for a "Special Medal" within your 50+ event.

You guys looked pretty good and should be pleased with your finish, no? 19 of 37, right? Not bad!

Hope the business is going like gangbusters.

Bill - The best thing about your T-shirts over the years has been the quality of the shirt - Hanes Beefy-Ts, I think they are. They last a long time! Zazzle claims (naturally) to have high quality shirts but I would make sure they meet your standards before signing on with them.

Re: Model C damper lever slips!

Does anyone have any advice on how to prevent the damper lever on my Model C from slipping downward while I row? ... Call Concept 2. It's a known problem and they have a fix for it... a small button that increases the friction between the case and the moveable shutter. They will send it to you for ...

Good thread! For you HR proponents - a question: What exactly do you monitor for a given piece or workout - ending heart rate, average heart rate, average excluding some portion (beginning or end), something else? Essentially I'm asking how you deal with HR creep. For example - on a 60' steady state...

Mike - Good stuff, thank you. I think I remember that you have been reluctant (or too busy) to discuss the physiological underpinnings of the WP, but it looks like this goes a long way to doing just that. Excellent. Now I really -do- wish that you would take us on that "tangent". There is sooo much ...
